Re: Las Troias (New Mexican Restaurant)

You dang right I called out the bay leaves. Those things can be choking hazards if they are not completely whole. I've seen it happen. And no, I didn't call the manager over, he sat down right beside me to talk to the bartender and asked me how I was enjoying the meal.

I went yesterday (Thurs) at straight up 12 noon. For a brand new place during the lunch run, they did pretty good. The place is huge. The only issue was there were two large bay leaves buried in the rice and beans that should have removed after cooking. Brought it to the attention of the manager, not as a complaint, but as an fyi. He was grateful for the information. I did feel the prices were a little steep. Especially on the lunch menu. Other than that, I enjoyed it. The food was fresh and...

Regardless of who we are supporting, a message needs to be sent to the Washington Post, NYT and similar rags, that we here in Alabama will not be swayed one way or the other and to stay the h*'ll out of our business. The timing of this stinks to high heaven. They are desperately throwing sh#t at the walls and hoping some will stick.

Unfortunately, there is a certain demographic segment of the population whose only exposure to "news" is the newspaper and major alphabet TV networks. In their prime, those were the only sources available. Walter Cronkite, Harry Reasoner, Roger Mudd on the Evening News at 5:30. Newspapers printed AP and UPI. That generation trusted the news being reported accurately. Whether it was or not. These folks are no different today. They can't or won't seek out alternative sources and take the news...

Pro athletes and entertainment "celebrities" are nothing but trained monkeys whose sole purpose is to entertain those willing to pay for it. It don't matter if they are black, white or green with purple polka dots. The only difference between them and the rest of us, is that more people watch them do their jobs. That's it. Shut up, do your job and stay outta stuff you don't understand.

Re: Gunman identified in Tennessee church shooting that left 1 dead

KThom ·
From some reports, the shooter was originally from the Sudan, and it was a predominantly white church. Whether this is fact or not, I'm sure we'll find out. Though I have a feeling this will get nowhere near the media coverage if it had been the other way around. Prayers for those wounded and families losing loved ones.

It hasn't been too many years ago that the absolute worse things that could be said about anyone was they were dishonest, untrustworthy, a crook or not dependable. Not anymore. Anybody can be any and all of these things, just as long as they're not accused of being a racist, it's all good. Sad

I find it interesting that this group of thug anarchists only choose to show up in places they know they won't be challenged. UC Burkley, Boston, Philly.

What part of that whole thing makes you think I'm the owner. It was far from a glowing review. As far as last post, nope. Just not a big poster. Besides, I had to go out of town for a family situation. And yes, NRA and concealed carry.

May as well make my first post on here in the food forum. Ate at Taziki's yesterday mid afternoon. Had the lamb gyro with pasta salad and roasted potatoes. The lamb didn't seem strong tasting to me. It was all very good for $9.95+ an arm and a leg for a drink. $14 and change total. Kinda high for one person. The other food I saw others eating looked equally good. The downside (to me). Bistro style place with deli style ordering at the counter. No table service. The place had a "downtown" and...
