Regardless of who we are supporting, a message needs to be sent to the Washington Post, NYT and similar rags, that we here in Alabama will not be swayed one way or the other and to stay the h*'ll out of our business. The timing of this stinks to high heaven. They are desperately throwing sh#t at the walls and hoping some will stick.
Unfortunately, there is a certain demographic segment of the population whose only exposure to "news" is the newspaper and major alphabet TV networks. In their prime, those were the only sources available. Walter Cronkite, Harry Reasoner, Roger Mudd on the Evening News at 5:30. Newspapers printed AP and UPI. That generation trusted the news being reported accurately. Whether it was or not. These folks are no different today. They can't or won't seek out alternative sources and take the news...
Pro athletes and entertainment "celebrities" are nothing but trained monkeys whose sole purpose is to entertain those willing to pay for it. It don't matter if they are black, white or green with purple polka dots. The only difference between them and the rest of us, is that more people watch them do their jobs. That's it. Shut up, do your job and stay outta stuff you don't understand.
From some reports, the shooter was originally from the Sudan, and it was a predominantly white church. Whether this is fact or not, I'm sure we'll find out. Though I have a feeling this will get nowhere near the media coverage if it had been the other way around. Prayers for those wounded and families losing loved ones.
It hasn't been too many years ago that the absolute worse things that could be said about anyone was they were dishonest, untrustworthy, a crook or not dependable. Not anymore. Anybody can be any and all of these things, just as long as they're not accused of being a racist, it's all good. Sad

May as well make my first post on here in the food forum. Ate at Taziki's yesterday mid afternoon. Had the lamb gyro with pasta salad and roasted potatoes. The lamb didn't seem strong tasting to me. It was all very good for $9.95+ an arm and a leg for a drink. $14 and change total. Kinda high for one person. The other food I saw others eating looked equally good. The downside (to me).
