Independent=demoslop but ashamed to admit it.

"I'm not as enthused about Al Franken and feel he's not only too controversial and far left but there was great speculation about the way he was elected".

Al franken was/is a comedian, a lousy one, that ran as a joke, and no one was more surprised than him when he was elected. He's still a joke, a bad one.

I have for Democrats and Republicans over the years, far more Republicans than Democrats in the last 37 years.  I detest not having more qualified Democrats as a choice but far more Democrats, today, adhere to the Party's chosen platform/line and do not deviate one bit.

With Democratic imposed healthcare (aka Obamacare) I made the decision that I would not vote for another Democrat based entirely on that Unconstitutional power grab and the way they accomplished it.   In some ways the Republicans are doing the EXACT same thing with the repeal process.  If it was unconstitutional for the Democrats to do it then it will be for the Republicans to keep it .  There are other ways to approach healthcare without making Health insurance companies a Government approved monopoly.

If though a conservative or moderate Democrat can be found or is found and surfaces then I will listen to his/her platform and make my decision based upon the person.  As for the upcoming Senate race, here in Alabama I'm supporting Mo Brooks.  I detest Luther Strange in great part on some of his chosen deceptive advertising having people call around under the guise of a survey, asking negative leading questions regarding his opponent and positive leading questions regarding him.  Mostly though it's the way he handled, or didn't handle, the problems with Alabama's Republican leadership in the Mike Hubbard and Governor Bentley situations.  Hubbard should have been removed from office when he refused to go and long before the time he did leave.  The Governor also should have been forced out and without all the golden parachutes or deals that they gave him for leaving.  Corruption and misuse of the office deserves to be prosecuted and Luther Strange, as Alabama AG played politics and allowed them to get favor they did not deserve so based solely upon that I will not and cannot support Strange to replace Sessions.

If that makes me a Democrat then so be it but I'll continue to reference myself as a Republican leaning conservative independent.
