Aldi's is set to become the third largest grocer in the U.S., but I had read behind Kroger and Whole Foods, not Walmart.

Off the main subject, Florence is geographically lopsided with the newest, largest stores being in the eastern part of the city. Perhaps Aldi's will build a third market here? I know the city council has tried to get a market downtown and has not been able to.

Aldi plans to expand to 2,500 locations by the end of 2022, which would make it the third-biggest US grocery chain by current store count levels. Aldi is nearing the end of a $3 billion investment that it announced in 2013 to expand to 2,000 stores by the end of 2018. It has 1,600 stores today, most of which Aldi plans to remodel.

** Downtown already has Wilsons. N.Florence has Hometown & Big Star.  Just my guess, but wouldn't Aldi use the path of High Traffic Flows to determine where it builds it's new locations? But, Downtown-Side Streets would be a nice addition to Florence.
