Tennessee’s Rashaan Gaulden flops, gets Florida’s Brandon Powell ejected
Florida junior wideout Brandon Powell was ejected in the fourth quarter of the Gators’ game against Tennessee on Saturday for throwing a punch at Tennessee defensive back Rashaan Gaulden after a play, but replays caused the call to come into question.
Video from an overhead camera showed Powell simply brushing the facemask of Gaulden after a standoff near midfield, which wouldn’t be grounds for an ejection. But Gaulden jumped into the air and swirled around, causing a referee to throw a flag and deem that a punch was thrown.
Tennessee would go on to get the ball from Florida, and score to take a 38–21 lead.
