Reply to "Any Predictions?"

With regards to Alabama, which I'm a fan of, I was concerned that our offense, other than , Damien Harris and Calvin Ridley appeared to be handled by Tech's defense.  Although, at times, it did appear that Hurts seemed more comfortable in his position I am still concerned that the passing program could be hampered by his abilities.  I hope I'm wrong though and maybe the coming weeks will prove me to be wrong.

I think in one way that the coaches are reluctant to put in Tua Tagovailoa for fear that he will shine far above Hurt's and thus cause conflict within the team and coaches going forward but you just know he needs to have some time behind center.  I think the coming week may give him that time.

Regarding the other Freshmen standouts I didn't think that Najee Harris had too impressive of a start but at least he has some time with the ball in a real game but Tech did contain him well.  Najee though, with his size and ability should become the #1 Running Back easily in the years to come.  Jerry Jeudy on the other hand had a great catch, all be it, negated by a penalty but Alabama certainly has weapons that have yet to be utilized.

Going forward I, as a fan, am highly encouraged with this year's team but still uncertain how the Defensive line will mature and progress particularly with respect to the last years.  One fear, at this point, is how much an affect the loss of the two Linebackers along with injuries to two others, will have in some of the upcoming games.  My greatest fear though is what was revealed by the turnovers that the defense did come up with.  Alabama should have had at least 14 additional points without question.  Alabama's offense failed three times, at least, to take advantage of "golden" opportunities given them. and at other times seemed anemic and ineffective and I don't know, with the talent they have, if it's just that they need time to gel together or if there is a bad problem with the Offensive line that needs fixed.  I think for most fans it's the ineffective offense that will be most concerning along with the status of the kicking game especially in the field goal area.  Many teams suffer with that problem but  Alabama has been off and on for the last four years with Griffith and I was hoping that now that Griffith had graduated and moved on that they would have someone (talented at place kicking as Scott is at punting) able to relieve doubts at that position.

As with most things ... time will tell.
