Reply to "Austria to send troops and armoured vehicles near Italian border to block migrants"

I first went to Italy while in college in Austria in 1970.  I couldn't get over the armored cars and soldiers walking around with machine guns on city streets back then.

We were in Rome Easter, 2017--the third time there in 2 years.  Their army was in firm control of the crowds going into St. Peter's Square to see the Pope bless the world--and give a piece of his mind.  I thought they were very attentive to the crowd of 150K.

I can tell you've never been there.  Don't sell'em short.  Their Army 's not large like the U.S. Army, but they're very capable.  Italy's unemployment rates are high enough without a zillion North African Boat People being rescued and brought there.

Our new favorite city and country is Budapest and Hungary.  They had the insight to throw up walls, double fencing and razor wire down on the border when the Syrians attempted to enter.  They don't have enough population to allow a large influx of thugs.  They herded the Syrian refugees onto trains and ushered them straight through their country into German.  Good for them.

We ate dinner one night with a German couple.  They said you wouldn't believe what the Syrian refugees are doing to their societies and quality of life.  We certainly don't need any of those rude and crude people over here.

Why wouldn't we believe it? We see what they're getting away with here already, and are demanding they be allowed to get away with even more, and the demoslops are right behind them propping them up.
