Ennyway, picked up a nice looking yugo M24/47 at the goose-big-hill at a decent price. After scrubbing out a ton of cosmoline, it seems to shoot better than I can. My son has talked me into putting a scope on it (long eye relief), so I'll see if he can cluster some better constructed reloads in a nice group. - Stanky

By long eye relief, I presume you're mounting the scope on the barrel to avoid drilling / tapping the receiver and bending the bolt.  What brand / model of scope mount are you using?  One that replaces the rear sight?

I believe this no gunsmith mount is sold by more than one company and seems to lock up tightly and yes it replaces the rear sight. It supposedly fits both the large and small ring Mauser actions (98k-large ring, yugo action based on small ring FN's); I did have to swap places of the two large set screws to get the mount to lock in securely. I mounted a "pistol scope" on it and as soon as my son gets able to make it to the range, we're going to try it out. I have a 98k as well that my son keeps bugging me to scope as well. If it were up to him, everything would have a scope, including my thumb busters.
