Reply to "In Five Years, US To Become Largest Exporter of Natural Gas"

I did not know anyone in my circle of friends & business affiliates who made the conversion to compressed gas for their cars. Local public outcry to outfitting cars to LPG, concerns of explosions occurring during car accidents.

However, I do recall in the 70's, either Pepsi or Coke Distribution Trucks did retrofit LPG tanks on their fleet trucks. Not sure if LNG was in use during this time period.  Don't know if they are still using them or reverted back to diesel, due to lack of dollar savings vs. diesel. During their use, I never heard of a truck with LPG tanks, exploding during an accident.  Majority of concern was for Cars & rear in accidents=Explosions.

It takes about 1.4 gallons of natural gas to equal the energy output of 1 gallon of diesel. All decisions will be based on economic's for fleet trucks to convert. Taking into account expensive Hybrid engine cost burning multiple fuels and cost of LNG.
