I read it slightly differently, but I believe that Jesus Christ was a Liberal. I think the Conservative, Imperialists of Rome saw him as a threat to their Domination of the Middle East, and Killed him. They also hunted down and Killed many of his disciples, and their followers, burned their writings, and made every effort to suppress his teachings till they decided under the Emperor Constantine to Co Opt the movement for their own purposes. Creating, in the process, the Christian Religion. Then, in the name of that religion they continued to Kill, Maim, Conquer and Subjugate, only now it was Pagans and Non Christians. Or, anybody who lived anywhere on the known Earth who was not already subjugated by the Holy Roman Empire.
