New Zealand, isolated, as it is, might make a good haven in a global storm.  Australia, with its small population of about 25 million, is in a bad neighborhood. Indonesia, with a massive Muslim population, and China with a military doctrine that looks upon Australia as a nearby major source of natural resources (except oil).  No ready oil and Australians become Amish in a couple of months.  Fracking is a possibility. But, water is scarce and the enviros are strong.

New Zealand is most definitly the choice of those who have the where with all to make a choice to live somewhere else. The problem is that there are so many Billionaires that are making that decision to make New Zealand their survival location that not only are they finding that land is actuallly starting to get tough to get but that which is available is going for such a huge inflated price that only the super rich are able to make such moves on the Island Nation.

New Zealand has for many year been a destination that I would love to have visited and seen from at least the late 1970's when I had nightly visits, on Amateur Radio, with a local New Zealander nammed Mac who would entertain a lot of us with stories about his Island Nation and how wonderful it was living there along with it's natural beauty and ease of living.  All that was before I started hearing news stories about people choosing it as a destination to avoid Armageddon or some other horrible occurance to our planet that would make many  places cesspools and third world countries.

Another out, that many of the richest are taking is in building and constructing their own mega yachts along with state of the art security measures to ward off against potential pirates and agressors.  Those measures, of course, wouldn't work too well against a large nation intent to conquer the world but most don't think that would be the most likely scenario.  Either way escape bunkers and destinations for the mega rich to locate safety destinations are quite in vogue today, from what I hear.

Personally, and I'm putting my own reputation or sanity at risk here, I like living in Alabama (in the US) and this area of the nation.  I think that we have so much going on for us in North Alabama as long as we can keep the liberal politics from corrupting Alabama like it's harmed California and many other places where the liberal utopia hs brought about outragous cost of living conditions for residents and everyone lives under such burdonsome restriictions that freedom is but a dream any longer.   Also those same burdeonsome restrictions and conditions is what is spurring an increase in popularity of some far off places like in Montana and say Alaska.  Places that are quite off the grid, so to say, and provide people a great measure of privacy.

Right! Because the head of EVERY BRANCH OF ALABAMA GOVERNMENT WENT TO JAIL... AND THEY WERE ALL REPUBLICANS. You can't make this stuff up. The corruption of Cali has gbrk all tore up, but the corruption in Alabama is perfectly fine, because they're Republicans.

Don Sigelman (D) former governor, actually spent several years in prison for being a criminal in office. You definitely can't make this up.

Ok, you got me. One Democrat to every three Republicans.
