I was sitting here thinking about our two past Republican senators.  When base closing were happening all over the country, Redstone Arsenal had huge  building projects bringing in the Army's bill payment operations.  They moved much of the Army helicopter operations up here, leaving just flight schools in S. AL.  So many other big money space, missile and armaments projects remain here.  The THADD system is fabricated in Courtland and shipped to Troy for final assembly.

We really need strong senators.  One's days in the senate is short and if the democrat is elected, he's a complete neophyte without U.S. Congress experience even.  We need experienced senators that can keep the projects and jobs in AL.  We are not going to have that shortly, unfortunately.

Ft. Rucker still has the mission of basic flight training on helicopters for all services and advanced training for the army.  There are no training units at Redstone Arsenal.  Almost no enlisted personnel are quartered there, the single barracks and dining facility are closed.  The largest unit with enlisted personnel is the AMC band.

Redstone, nicknamed "Pentagon South" is a major location for the HQ units that make major decisions for the military.  That's where the money is in DoD.
