Reply to "Republicans Pull Healthcare Legislation Plan in Blow to Trump"

Monkeys Uncle,

Everything that was predicted with this tripe has come to pass. You can call them death panels, but most of us in the know called them "insurance panels" which decide what they will and will not cover, or how they want the patient treated.  Insurance companies are retreating from these Obamacare policies like crazy because they are not making money on them and the government is not paying like they promised....surprise, surprise.  The premiums are going up faster than they ever did prior to its inception.  The insurance companies now just decide they will "stop offering" a policy.  The previous "gold level" plans are now silver and "silver level" are bronze, yet the prices have gone higher. The physicians are being compensated less and less for the care, and new rules make it harder for a cancer patient to get their diagnostic tests performed in a timely manner. I say, let it implode.  Take everyone down with the ship, then institute a new government plan where you put the healthcare workers on a government retirement plan.  Jack everyone's taxes up another 20% or so to pay for it and lets get it over with.  If you want European style care, let's make it happen.

I wouldn't bet on single payer anytime soon. Even Gov. Moonbeam is getting cold feet:

Gov. Jerry Brown, in Washington warning about the billions his state could lose on the eve of a Republican effort to repeal and replace Obamacare, strained Wednesday to understand the logic behind pushing another system like single-payer.

Where do you get the extra money?” Brown asked in an extended chat with reporters. “This is the whole question. I don’t even get ... how do you do that?”

Universal healthcare has gained in popularity, particularly among liberal groups in California, as an answer to what they see as the undermining of Obamacare. Sen. Ricardo Lara, D-Bell Gardens, has introduced a single-payer bill, and Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom is formulating his variation of a health plan he said would be based off of his work as mayor of San Francisco.

Brown remained deeply skeptical.

“This is called ‘the unknown by means of the more unknown,’” he said. “In other words, you take a problem, and say ‘I am going to solve it by something that’s ... a bigger problem,’ which makes no sense.”
