Most refugees will not be on immune suppressing medications when they enter the U.S. Therefore, this would not be a pre-existing condition. Tuberculosis and Rubeola are two diseases that do affect many immigrants and eventually everyone who doesn't have immunity via vaccines or natural factors.

In other words, TB is serious, and the medical community views it so.
