I recently called the local Veterans Affairs office asking about getting a veterans ID card. I thought I would use it for some places that offer veteran discounts but when they told me that I would have to travel to Birmingham with my DD214, I changed my mind.

Didn't take that when I applied years ago. Still have it stored away. Only used it for a year of college after I got back from Nam and to guarantee my first home loan.
