Hi Jack,

I agree with you.  God instituted marriage between one man and one woman to be a lifelong melding of two into one.  God hates divorce and as you mentioned, He allowed it for the people of Israel, but did not condone it.

We all sin, but when we own our sin and go to Him for forgiveness -- He is faithful to forgive.   David, chosen by God and a man after God's own heart -- weakened and first committed adultery, then murder to cover that adultery, then married Bathsheba.

Did God punish David?  Yes.  Did God forgive David?  Yes.  His first child with Bathsheba died as an infant, greatly wounding the heart of David.  But, that same message also assures the believer that we will see our Christian loved ones and children in heaven.

Was David wrong to marry and have other children?   Did not God bless David through his son, Solomon, born of his marriage to Bathsheba --  Solomon, whom God gave great wisdom and made one of Israel's greatest kings?

Yes, divorce is a sin and God hates all sin.  But, divorce is a sin -- and not a lifestyle.  Therefore, like David, one can be forgiven of sin and still be a child of God, and have eternal life in Christ.

God bless, have a wonderful, blessed day,

Bill
