"Starting August 1, traffic stops will enter the Twenty-First Century. Thanks to Alabama Legislative Act 2017-242, drivers will now be able to show police officers their vehicle registration on their cell phone instead of having to reach across the cab to grab it from the glove box."

Well, it is Alabama, where most folks over 30 don't know how to use a smart phone.  Don't know how they could require 90% of the population to buy something they couldn't use.

Speak for yourself, gramps.  Been using smart phones since they were invented and computers since DOS 3.0.

Yes, speak for yourself or look around. Alabama is no where near as backward as folks would have others believe they are. That's why I say it won't be long before folks have to conform and do it whether or not they want to have even more of their lives "out there". If they balk there will be the "old salts" out there to make snarky remarks about them.

I think I still have my DOS 3.0 floppies stashed away in a closet.

Oh, its not such a big deal.  The government has all the info on you it needs anyway.  Don't forget, they're monitoring everything you do on the internet and cell phone.  Big brother is listening!

It's not the government that wants your personal info, SS# and bank numbers. Funny that not a day goes by that you don't hear of someone's "smart phone" being hacked or whatever, and it's never the goverment that did it. Apparently the phone is not smart enough to protect your info.

From what I've seen, most phones are smarter than their owners these days. If everyone had to pass intelligence test before they could buy their smart phones, the industry would crash.

Was that comment directed to me?  Hell, yeah it was.  That's what grandsons 16.0  are for.  From what I've seen these days of the instructions for some of this tacticool gear leaves a lot to be desired.  In cold cases, the instructions read like you just opened a book in the middle of a bad chapter.   Mr. T sez  "Pitty da fool who opened da part ta thermal optics and didn't know what NUC'n wuz."

Then I remembered my first time.  Hotter'n on the coldest night than I ever imagined.

Over half the voters are

Funny coming from you jt, seeing as how you vote demoslop yet always seem to have a complaint about the things they are doing. You make about as much sense as a fireman fighting a blaze hooking the hose to a gasoline tanker.

"Will now be able to", not required to.  The old fashioned paper method will still be acceptable.  I don't think they are going to try to force you to buy a smart phone.

Not wanting to do something is not the same as not being able to do it.

I don't understand.  Do you want to or not?  If you can do it and want to, then do it.  If you unable do it but want to do it, either enable yourself to do it or don't do it.  If you are able to do it but don't want to do it, then don't.

It has nothing to do with what I want, it's not about me. I was commenting on your snarky "remark" that people who wouldn't use it weren't smart enough to use a d*** phone. Meaning not wanting to use the freaking phone does not equate to not being smart enough to use the freaking phone.

Well,  if you're offended, then get over it.  You seem to have no problem with you insulting other people.

Feel free to "put words in my mouth". I never said I was offended. I'm not a demoslop so I don't search every day to find something to get "offended" about.  I never posted anything suggesting I was offended. I have no problem insulting people that insult me, and could not care less what you think about it, so I guess you're the one that needs to  get over it.

I did not put words into your mouth. I didn't know for sure if you were offended but it was a possibility. That's why I used a conditional sentence structure (i.e.  if you are offended, then...").  If I had known for sure that you were offended, I would have said something along the lines of, "I see that you are offended..."  And, not to worry - your ilk could never offend me.

Playing with and twisting words. OK, if  you are offended that I insult others let me say, get over it, I will always insult folks that insult me.
