A recent acquaint I have come to know, who doesn't do Social Media anymore, has asked me to post a message .
He has learned that Gus has had some serious medical issues this year.
I haven't seen many Gus posts.
I don't know what kind of a guy he is.

He posted here this morning. I knew he was in the hospital a few months ago but as far as I know he is at home now recovering.
I only know him online here on the forums but have always found him to be a good guy.

What happened to unclegus & what kind of need is he in? I've seen him post twice in the last day or so.
unclegus was stricken with a spinal meningitis back in December. I had a brain surgery in January to remove infection leaving a piece of skull missing that had the infection in it. One week ago today I had a second brain surgery to replace the skull missing from previous surgery. They kept me overnight for observation, then released me on Friday and I judged barbecue on Saturday. I am not 100% back to work, but am taking care of administrative duties.
I feel fine, but if you were to see the back of my head you would question that. I currently have 50 staples and numerous stiches holding me together at the time, but anticipate once the stiches and staples are removed and the hair grows back I will be the same old me.
All of this started most likely from an ear infection that went untreated? Apparently I have had so many ear infections in my life that a hole had eroded in the subdural membrane that separates the skull from the brain. I am a very lucky individual for I was in a coma for at least 15 days and come close to dying more than one time. I have many friends to thank for their prayers and support during my time of illness. I now see life through a different light and know for a fact the good lord has other plans for me or else I would not be here with you now.

Glad to hear you are doing well unclegus. Ear infections, especially chronic ones in adults, can be a medical nightmare. My mom suffered through about 8 surgeries because of this and subsequent mastoiditis. Thankfully, it never progressed to meningitis.
However, hearing you tell your tale reminds me of Cousin Eddie in Vacation. Remember he had a cheap skull implant because of government cutbacks at the VA. Everytime his wife turned on the microwave, he wet pants, but otherwise he was "OK"....haha.....hope you don't end up like Cousin Eddie.

I innocently passed information that should probably have remained between Gus and his Family.
The Guy that asked me to post this, has known Gus for years.
He thought there would be mass support for the "Uncle".
He said many of you would know the true identity of "Gus", and would know his benevolence.
He just wishes Gus the best.
I will post no more about this subject, and will inform him.
