What? Did you even read the article you posted?

The very fist paragraph says:

"The U.S. labor market has become steadily less dynamic since 1990, with workers seemingly locked into particular jobs and a more sluggish process of job creation and destruction in the private sector, according to research to be presented to global central bankers on Friday."

We will never be able to have any kind of intelligent discussion if you continue to believe that everything that is wrong with the US economy is President Obama's fault.

If we wanted to blame an administration for the decline then wouldn't we start with the out going president whose policies were in place when it started? Or maybe the administration that was in office at the beginning of the decline? Although I think the problem is much bigger than who was sitting in the oval office.

President Obama was a 27 year old law student at Harvard when the decline in labor market fluidity began.

And, he's ensured there will be no up turn,

My father in law learned how to read at the kitchen table after a day spent sharecopping, taught by his wife.  He was put out of his house during the depression at 13 to live on his own and start working.  He achieved and overcame and was not bitter or filled with envy!  his example and work ethic ensured his 5 kids went to college also.    I worked my way through college also so tell me again about privilege.  If everthing was easy everybody would do it comes to mind.   Yes, there is misery and hard walks in life but the worst off here have it light years better than most of the world.  People should be given the chance to better themselves and a helping hand not hand outs for life!

Hiflyer, no one said it was impossible to come from nothing and make something of yourself. Nothing is that black and white. There will always be exceptions. However, we have to recognize that times have changed, and having a good work ethic doesn't get you the same opportunity it once did in this country.

Also, when was the last time you saw the cost of a college education? Even here in Alabama where college tuition is fairly low compared to most other state universities, the cost is too high to "work your way through college". If you worked 40 hours a week at a slightly above minimum wage job you couldn't come close to the cost.

The illustration I posted shows the reality of today.

Pretty sure I know the cost of a college education as ill be paying for one in two years and we have been visiting campus's.  Work ethic and good decisions will still get you ahead in this country.  I was Talking to a young guy who just immigrated from Seribia and he told me himself that in this country hard work pays off.  One thing for sure sitting on your sofa eating cheetos collecting a government check will get you nowhere.  Pretty telling what Maine did requiring snaps receivers to work , go to school or do community service to continue receiving snaps.   Their enrollment dropped by 1/3 guess why???

Yeah, my last of 3 just graduated and I too know the high cost of college. Our children have privilege. Mine recognizes that and would never say "I did this myself, without any help." Yet, I hear many people who had help getting to where they are say that very thing. Hard work is important, but hard work alone doesn't ensure success. Turning around and giving a hand up to someone that maybe didn't have the same privileges is what I taught my children to do. If I ever heard them say they got to where they are without help I would whip them like they were still a child.

As for the food stamp statement. It wasn't just Maine, the entire nation changed the way food stamps were given during the Clinton administration. It helped get many people off of them and back to work. I agree with requiring those that get food stamps to be either working some kind of job or actively looking for employment.
