NEW YORK CITY, New York, February 21, 2018 (LifeSiteNews) – The View's Joy Behar is on the defensive after ABC News was inundated with thousands of complaints when her show mocked Vice President Mike Pence’s Christianity.

Tuesday, February 13, Joy Behar mocked the Vice President’s faith on national television, calling it “mental illness” to listen to the Lord. The next day a somber Pence responded that such an attack on Christian prayer “was just wrong.”

A fervor ensued. The 75-year-old Behar is now back-peddling on her comment, calling it a “joke.”

“I’m going to put the question to you,” Whoopi Goldberg forewarned Behar on Thursday’s episode of The View.  “Do you think Christians are mentally ill?”

“Well, I mean, that would make me mentally ill since I’m a Christian myself,” Behar replied. “Of course not. Of course not.”

“I don’t mean to offend people but apparently I keep doing it,” she said.

“It was a joke. Comedians are in danger these days,” she added.

Goldberg went on to defend The View’s openness to all viewpoints.

“The idea that this show is intolerant of other people’s religious beliefs I find a little hard,” she said.

Following Goldberg’s lead, Behar said: “I’m a Christian – I give money to the Church,” she added, “You know, I actually help Christians with my pocketbook. I’m not insulting Christians.”

After Behar insulted Pense and his Christian faith ABC News was flooded with 25,363 complaint calls as of Monday morning.

Rev. Franklin Graham of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association said Behar's comments should both alarm and offend citizens.

"Whether you are a Catholic, whether you are a Protestant, Baptist, Evangelical, Pentecostal --whatever you may be, this should scare the socks off of you," he told Todd Starnes.

The evangelist posted on Facebook a defense of Christianity’s unique two-way prayer, quoting Jesus’ Own words, “My sheep hear My voice.”

It didn't scare me, knowing Behar is a liberal and that in itself is a mental illness.
Pence handled it in the right way. Also these mental illness cases always fall back
on the "I was just kidding" lie, do it every day.

Gosh, Kraven, that makes two separate topics on "The View." You must care a lot more than most what those crazy women say.

Actually, it's sorta like "Jerry Springer." The people who watch it do so for the controversy, just waiting for the next outrageous statement.

I don't watch it, I catch the aftermath. It's nothing like Jerry
Springer but then both are full of your type of people.

Gosh, Recrapin, when I say "follow me" I didn't mean you....

Behar and her ilk have always been as mad as a march hare. Nothing she says surprises me. Years ago she was crying over Alabama inmates having to pick up litter by the roadside when it was hot and cold. At the time I was working outside in the same conditions and my days were a heck of a lot longer. Suffice it to say I had no sympathy for them. Yes, whenever the left steps in it, which is all the time, they fall back on "just kidding".

I don't watch the show, but to add some context;

“As bad as you think Trump is, you would be worried about Pence… everyone that is wishing for impeachment might want to reconsider their life,” she said in the clip. “I am Christian, I love Jesus, but he thinks Jesus tells him to say things.”

The talk-show panelists pondered what Omarosa’s motive was, before Sunny Hostin chimed in, “I think what’s interesting is that she said Jesus tells Mike Pence things to say.”

Joy Behar then said: “It’s one thing to talk to Jesus. It’s another thing when Jesus talks to you.”

Behar said hearing voices is a “mental illness” before Sherri Shepard offered a limited defense of Pence.

“As a Christian, that’s just par for the course,” Shepard said “You talk to Jesus, Jesus talks back. What concerns me is, how long is the conversation with Jesus?”

The work gangs are voluntary.  The inmates make a bit more than usual, get outside and usually have a lunch from a contractor, which is better than prison food.
