This study examined how educators can better accommodate Muslim children in American schools.

  • While the Muslim population is growing quickly in the United States and the world, non-Muslims may not have an accurate understanding of Islam and related practices, potentially leading to prejudice.
  • Recent world events (the Gulf War, Iranian conflict, Palestinian conflict, War on Terror, and war with Iraq) are associated with growing anti-Muslim sentiment in the United States.
  • Educators may not be prepared to meet the needs of the growing numbers of Muslim children attending public schools in the United States.
  • Author Identified:
    • Be aware that Muslims may interpret the tenets of Islam in different ways, resulting in different practices.
    • Consider how to accommodate the needs of Muslim students (e.g. a space away from food service while fasting, a space to pray briefly throughout the day) in the school environment.
    • Consider that religious beliefs may prohibit Muslim students from participating in school events and activities (e.g. mixed gender play, loud music, Christian-based holiday celebrations).
    • Provide private bathrooms, showers, and changing areas to ensure students’ privacy.
    • Provide facilities for Muslim children to cleanse themselves after toileting.
    • Provide children of different genders with separate spaces for physical education and swimming to ease gender-based privacy concerns.
    • Be aware that some Muslims may prefer that imagery portraying humans not be displayed in schools.
    InformeDesign Identified:
    • Consult Muslim parents and community members when designing for Muslim children.
    • Be aware that even young children have needs pertinent to their religious beliefs.
    • Provide appropriate food preparation and serving areas in schools to accommodate students’ dietary restrictions (e.g. avoiding pork or pork-based products, using separate utensils for pork-based and other foods).
    • Key Concepts
    • spacer
      • Islam, a monotheistic religion based on the Qur’an and the Sunnah (holy books) whose followers are called Muslims, has more than one billion followers worldwide, with six million living in the United States.
      • Islam is the world’s fastest growing religion and its followers will soon become the second largest religious group in the United States.
      • Islamic schools and places of worship are growing in numbers in the United States.
      • Subjects generally expressed concern that educators understand Islamic practices including fasting, clothing preferences, gender-based privacy issues, potential concerns regarding music, art, and holiday celebrations, and that educators aid Muslim students who are teased.
      • Muslim parents, educators, and community leaders in Western New York were interviewed regarding the needs of Muslim school children and the role of educators in meeting those needs.
        • Literature about Islam and Muslim students was reviewed.

The christian haters are the ones they're working to accommodate. Thumping the bible and insisting it be taught in schools is exactly why things like this are happening. They're pushing their way in already, stop giving them the means and arguments for the 'right' to do it. People better start raising h*** about this stuff.

In a May 26 address before the Islamic Circle of North America/Muslim American Society (ICNA/MSA), both Muslim Brotherhood front groups, André Carson commiserated with his audience over how difficult things have been for them since the World Trade Center attacks at the hands of al Qaeda jihadists: “9/11 was tough on Muslims.”

Carson is America’s race-baiting, confirmed socialist and second Muslim Congressman (Keith Ellison is the first), who had a lot of interesting things to say at this event. In video clips surfacing on the internet, Carson made the above comment as well as this eyebrow-raising pronouncement, to the applause of his Muslim-American audience:

America will never tap into educational innovation and ingenuity without looking at the model that we have in our madrassas, in our schools, where innovation is encouraged, where the foundation is the Koran. And that model that we are pushing in some of our schools meets the multiple needs of students… America must understand that she needs Muslims. It’s unclear how the rote memorization of the Koran constitutes “educational innovation and ingenuity,” or how madrassas are “meeting the needs” of Muslim students abroad; in places like Pakistan where they abound, they don’t seem to be producing a wealth of world-class scholars or highly-trained professionals, but they do seem to produce a virulent hatred of things un-Islamic.

All of the bullet points mentioned in the OP go WAY beyond anything that has been done to accomodate Christians.  We don't have Christian Law, but they do have sharia and they expect everyone including the infidels to comply with it.  With Islam being the fastest growing religion in the world and approximately 20% being radical, we should be very concerned.

How many threads, by the lefties, have been made making fun of Republican politicians that dare profess their belief in a god, or dare say the bible should be taught in school? How many accusations of the right wanting a theocracy? Yet they never mention one word about the politicians that are promoting islam in schools and government.

We may thump your head with a Bible, they'll take your head and use it as a soccer ball, especially homosexuals.

I don't think they make a difference in homosexuals and others. BTW, some 'christians' want to lock up homosexuals and let them 'die out'. Yeah, lots more compassionate, and just might work. Wonder why no one has tried that before. I don't get it. Muslims say they have a right to kill people that don't believe like they do. Any rational person can see that is messed up. Christians will march outside abortion clinics to show their opposition to the slaughter of babies, then embrace and beg for 'mercy' for a cold bloodied murderer, some of the most heinous there are, in the name of religion, yet some people claiming to be rational folks don't have a problem with that? Christians claim they have a right to oppress and deny rights to people, look the other way when they're attacked, sometimes killed, for their sexual preference. Christians may not be beheading homosexuals, but something tells me they don't really care that someone else is doing it.

If being gay is genetic, the best way to lessen their numbers would be to let them alone. Instead of marrying and having children, to hide their proclivities, they could openly live with those of their choice. Some may have children by surrogates and others adopt, but their numbers would decline.  IOW, leave them alone is the best policy.

There will always be some persons with genetic differences. However, as gays are an extrme minority (about 3.5 percent male and 1.5 percent female) if they don't pass on their genes, the numbers will decrease to even lower numbers.  Having a child by a surrogate, involves passing on, in this case, the male genes, which would continue the line.
