Oh, Knee-jerk Moron, I am not opposed to ALL defense spending, just the "irrational and excessive" part (read my post again), which has been well-described over the years. The Pentagon is the gtand champion of WASTE in government.

If the Pentagon is the gtand champion then welfare is the Supreme Ruler of waste in more ways than one, bloated toad.

Welfare is a teeny tiny fraction of what we spend on military WASTE.

You might have something there, but I can assure you that corporate welfare was not included the kperk's reference. BHeing a champion of the alleged "free market system," he would likely be loathe to include the largesse of gumm'int toward business within the rubric of "welfare."

I like neither but corporate welfare is MUCH better than social welfare. Why? I know you'll ask. How many welfare lumps have ever put you to work? You see, bloated, you have to add housing and urban development, and health and human services (which alone sucks away more money than defense, over $100 billion more). You seem very uneducated on the things you post about.

so, you think its better to spend money killing the innocent than to help our poor, sick and needy?
you had rather that an old grandmother be left to starve or without adequate medical care while the money to help her is spent bombing a village of women and children?

You're a sick little puppy. It's not healthy to go too long between diaper changes. Eeker

Actually corporate welfare is arguably more destructive to the country through the inefficient allocation of resources. Government should not be in the business of picking and choosing winners that's what the free market does really well. Like you I'm not a fan of either.

Below is a list of the various agencies and programs within the Department of Health and human Services. Will you kindly advise the forum just which of these functions are "welfare"?? You seem to have concluded that the entire HHS budget is "welfare." Can you defend that?

Office of the Secretary
ACF - Administration for Children & Families
AoA - Administration on Aging
AHRQ - Agency for Healthcare Research & Quality
ATSDR - Agency for Toxic Substances & Disease
CDC - Centers for Disease Control & Prevention
CMS - Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services
FDA - Food & Drug Administration
HRSA - Health Resources & Services Administration
IHS - Indian Health Service
NIH - National Institutes of Health
OIG - Office of Inspector General
SAMHSA - Substance Abuse & Mental Health Services Administration

Bitter, can you explain the purpose of each of these and why our tax money should go toward funding them?

I could do a lot of budget cutting with that group.

My question was to Kperk, who seems to believe that all functions of HHS are "welfare." I am waiting to see what kind of rationale he can provide for classifying, for example, the Food and Drug Administration, the National Institutes of Health, and the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention in that category.
I see no need for carrying out the extensive task you prescribe. I have not contended that ALL functions of HHS are sound and sensible and free of waste, but I have challenged Kperk's all-subsuming and intemperate classification of HHS as a "welfare" agency. I am still waiting for his reply.

Perhaps Kperk is anxiously waiting for you to explain who, and under what authority, should immediately sterilize the Duggars. Wink

The Duggars--or at least one of them--should be voluntarily sterilized. It doesn't matter which one gets sterilized; it will shut down excess production either way. But since they apparently believe the have some duty from God to copulate and procreate and over-populate this already overcrowded planet, it seems unlikely that they would do anything that sensible.
