Westboro Baptist Church planning to picket Sandy Hook Elementary to "praise god for his judgement"... Apparently they're blaming Carrie Underwood (related story). Yeah, that makes sense....

To me the Westboro Church are no more offensive than those that say this was God's plan. How is it different? Fred Phelps says it is Gods plan to punish for sins or homosexuality. Other Christians say it was God's plan and we are not to question why.

If I was living in that town I would stomp all over their free speech rights. I got bail money and I ain't afraid of going to jail.

Ok Road Puppy,  be gentle.

I don't know if it is true, but I heard that a while back this bunch of these Godless hypocrite nutcases decided to protest down around Columbus, Ms.  Seems the day of the planned protest, every single car with a Kansas license plate on it found a pickup truck parked behind it in all the motels anywhere around, when the owners woke up.. For some reason, none of them seemed to be able to get a tow truck to remove the pickup blocking them in, until sometime after the funeral was over that they were there to "protest" at. For some reason, all the tow trucks were busy on other calls.

Once the funeral was over , tho, the pickup drivers all showed up and moved their pickups.

Funny how that worked out.

When I ask questions like I’m about to ask you, people think I’m just being a smart azz, but that’s not it at all. I would love to have my questions answered in a make sense way. I never get that, but maybe you can satisfy my curiosity.

Something this horrible happens & people turn to the very one that could very well have stopped it??? The very one that is supposed to be all poweful? There’s a reason for everything that happens even though it may not be understood at the time?

For what reason would God want to take those 20 angels that he just allowed Satan to murder in the first place? That is what we will hear, isn’t it? God didn’t do it, Satan did, right?

Or, or, this one! It wasn’t God, it was man because man is evil, right? Why not just allow that man  to be hit by a truck & meat/blood scattered all over the road instead of allowing the evil man to kill all those children?

Children that were looking forward to Christmas slaughtered. I wonder if God got any pleasure in watching all this unfold? If He allowed it, He had to be watching, right?

God gave us a brain to know right from wrong, good/evil, but the evil of the world did it. But I thought man did this? It never ceases to amaze me of the things that people come up with.

Hi Jan and Seeweed,

I, too, think that is a wonderful idea.  And, even though we all know the Southern mind and will are a wee bit different from our "Northern brethren" -- such inspired actions are not limited only to the South.

A few years ago, in California, the handicapped folks got tired of healthy folks parking in the handicap parking spots.  This really fries my grits also.  When I see some healthy man or woman park in a handicap spot, get out of their car, and happily walk away -- my blood boils.

Well, in California, a group decided to do something about it.  When they would spot a non-handicapped person parking in the handicap parking spot -- a man or woman in a wheel-chair would roll up and park right behind that vehicle, lock their wheel brakes, and wait for the owner to return.  When the driver came out of the store, he/she found a wheel-chair bound person sitting right behind their car -- who refused to move until someone called the police and the offender was given a ticket.

Imagine the dilemma.  The offender had several choices:  Get in the car and run over the wheel-chair person (not a good idea, especially with a crowd watching), or attack the wheel-chair bound person in an attempt to physically remove him/her (also not a good idea with the crowd watching; for I am sure some would have come to the wheel-chair person's rescue), or call the police and accept the ticket.   As Hannibal (George Peppard), leader of the A-Team, always said, "Don't you love it when a plan comes together?"

God bless, have a wonderful, blessed day,

Bill

Another shooting.  Another senseless tragedy.  Another personality self-destructs into eternal nothingness, going out in a blaze of glory, leaving their mark - a new low for humanity.

What level of abject despair could drive an individual to commit such a horrific act?  At what dead end of existence, and to what level of hopelessness must people find themselves in order to justify these despicable deeds?  And indeed they do justify them, for in a strange and twisted way they see themselves as the real victims, their savage acts of revenge are not so much upon those unfortunate enough to be in their way, but upon the entire human race.   Their rage extends across the cosmos and even upon the God of such a universe that could allow such a cruel fate to befall them.  These are the cosmically insane, rebelling against the ultimate reality of love with acts of unspeakable violence.

I believe that life in this age of extreme materialistic tendency contributes to the frequency of these tragic events.  We are living in an amazing time.  Every year brings a new wonder: faster computers, better sound, and bigger toys.  So much STUFF.  Is it any wonder that so many overlook the truth of the Spirit and focus instead on the tangible things with which they can fill their meaningless lives?  And then, when their lives are so full of THINGS, that they can not fit even another do they find their lives still empty and devoid of any real joy.  And so do they lash out at the society which created them, and made them what they are.

But the true tragedy is that we are all so close to that place of peace which we are seeking.  True peace lies so close, yet so many live out their lives searching everywhere for the tranquility, which, even, now, lives within them.  Men and women die of thirst when the living water is within reach in the last place where they unfortunately think to look.  It is not at Wall Mart.  It is not at Target.  It is not at Home Depot, at the BMW dealer or hidden under the foil coating of a lottery ticket.  It is not even inside a church.  It is within you, within all of us.  It is theKingdomofHeaven.

The Kingdom of Heavenis not a place.  It is a state of mind.  It is the love of everyone in the world, of every being in the universe.  It is trust, forgiveness and tolerance.  The Kingdom of Heaven allows for all religions, for in the Kingdom, all are the sons and daughters of the same God of a universe.  The Kingdom of Heaven is recognizing the good in everyone you meet.  It is a place of rest, even in the midst of this crazy materialistic age.  The Kingdom is safety, security and a peace that defies all understanding.

The Kingdom of Heavenis within you.

OK, you sit there and tell me about 'real bright.' Tell me about how god is welcoming a new crop of angels with loving arms and all that hockey-pucky and how the Westboro freaks are right in spewing their hate.

Tell me about what kinda sick, twisted deity has a plan like that.

I don't know any who are saying it's God's plan, but I don't doubt that there are some out there. i once read a woman's post on here who said that allowing an innocent family to die was God's plan to save a drunk.

No, God can't will evil in itself. Why He allows it to happen, we don't know. I don't expect to convert any unbelievers with that previous sentence, but it is the truth. He can take the evil and use it for good.

Oh yeah. The gun nuts (wolves) are on Facebook telling the world that if all the teachers had been armed and trained this tragedy could have been averted. (prison camp, anyone? Now THERE'S a healthy learning environment!)

Every/single/christian (sheep) I know is posting  ridiculous pictures of Jesus surrounded by little children....As if they somehow justify the killling of innocent people..children......like it's all part of a divine plan.... Like we should FEEL GOOD about it for some sick reason...

God made man, He gave us a brain to acknowledge right from wrong. He did not intend for this world to become so evil. What is more innocent than a child. No, semiannual chick, i do not believe that you are a smart azz. I believe that you are just as confused as the whole world. Human beings has to make decisions whether right or wrong. God has giving us the ability to know good from evil and unless you believe in him, have faith, and trust in him them it is very easy to ask why. I do not understand it sometimes either, but I try everyday to keep the faith and trust in him. When something good happens in our lives, we thank God, and when something like this tragedy happens we question God. I do not know the answers to your questions, i only know what I believe and that is  God is preparing a place for us that past his judgement and can enter into the gates of heaven. I have the same Bible that every one else has and the Bible is a very hard book to understand. Some quotes you read can have a totally different meaning to you than to anyone else that reads the same quote. All I know to tell you is that you are the one that God has given the choice to follow, trust, and believe in Him and you are the one that has to find your own peace. People can tell you a lot of reasons that God did not stop this. Some good, some not. Semiannualchick, I do not have the answers, I can only try to understand by reading the Bible and try to live by Gods words. All make our own choices in life and for me God helps me to deal with them. I too have been where I ask God why he made me the way I am, for I have an illness that cannot be cured. I wonder sometimes in situations like this why he does not take the sick and let the children have long and safe lives. Man mixed with the evils of the world did this is a better way to put it. Even tho I did not help you, I hope you understand that just because someone does not believe in God or is trying to find their way, does not make them any less of a person. A smart azz you are not, a human being yes.

Name calling does not help the situation or make the person feel any better about it. They are trying to understand the world and the people in just like us all. The bad thing about it is that we will never understand why people do what they do.

RP, the pics of Jesus and the children all over the place breaks my heart- while I'm sure that those sweet children are safely with Him, I refuse to believe or even entertain the notion that this is part of Gods plan. No way. Isn't it nuts how people can justify just about anything- "His ways are so high above ours" And "part of the plan"... Nope. This tragedy had nothing to do with God, lack of God, gun control, lack of gun control, etc- It was a sick and depraved bast&rd that senselessly defied humanity and ripped those children from their families. I'm still trying to make sense of this - but what I do know is that these wackos from Westboro better watch their backs- if anyone ever told me my child was gunned down in her kindergarten class for "God" I would unleash a very unchristian fury- they are sick *******s. Geez, sounds like the world is full of them.... #ranting

I like to treat people like I would want them to treat me. Anyone that says that they know all the answers is making a big statement that they cannot stand behind.  They treat me like I am an out cast, but all I do is say what I feel.

I got faith in ma homies.

I hear the CT state police are also pulling security details at the funerals.

I rode with many of them at events in the Fairfield/Litchfield county biker community.

Sounds like they got it under control.

How God will welcome his angels,   With loving and open arms.

It is pretty obvious there is no Big Daddy in the Sky playing puppet master with this or anything else. This mass murder is just that, a mass murder facilitated by the availability of excessive fire power. While we can argue over why or how forever, now is the time to worry not about those who were killed. They are dead and gone. Our concern now should be with those that survived. I can't imagine how traumatized those surviving children are, and what kind of future they will face.

As for the relogious nutcases attempting to exploit the situation...they are their own worst enemy. On the other hand they do serve a purpose. They show us how preverted believing in the unbelievable can really be.

Common sense once again. Thank you for one of the few intelligent posts on this tragedy.
