I have only been a lurker on TD Forums, but will be moving back to the Shoals this summer and likely more active. Are there any teachers around? I am searching for information on the AL Basic Skills. It is necessary for renewing my AL license and I am trying to find out what to expect when I take it.

thanks!

Though I'm not a teacher, you're probably aware of these sites.

We're glad to know you're returning to the area!

kontan, are you now in AL or somewhere else?

If in AL, where?

What's bringing you to the Shoals? (besides a car?)

What subject(s) will you be teaching, and where?

Hi SL. Sorry to just get back to this post, but I am having trouble navigating TD. Is there not a "view new posts" button somewhere?

Anyway, We are in MS until the end of the school year then returning to the Shoals. I finished at UNA and taught at Muscle Shoals for a semester. We're coming back to the Shoals because my husband would like to take a few classes and the area is familiar.

Where I will be teaching? Frowner Good question. I would love to teach at MS again, but am willing to teach anywhere. Any suggestions? My BSED is Social Science, secondary ed, my MA is in American History.
Good luck Kontan on finding a teaching job. Goodness knows the schools here need good caring teachers. I hope you have some "pull" in any of the local school systems. I know of one or two very bright teachers that took forever to find a position, even if their qualifactions far surpassed others that recieved jobs. I hope things have changed and teachers are hired on their merit and not because their uncle was so-in-so and they were old friends with whats his name that owed them a favor.
