WASHINGTON - The seven Republicans in Alabama's congressional delegation - and even one of the Democrats - had voting records last year in strong support of President Bush, according to a new analysis.
For the votes on which Bush took a position, GOP senators and House members from Alabama voted with him at least 83 percent of the time, according to CQ Weekly, a Capitol Hill publication that analyzed the 2006 votes by all 535 members of Congress.
On the Senate side, Sens. Richard Shelby and Jeff Sessions cast votes that supported Bush 86 percent and 91 percent of the time, respectively - above average for all Senate Republicans.
