I agree there should be stiff penalties for soliciting juveniles for sexual activity online, but...

What happens when your high school age grandson is visiting you and is using your computer on Facebook. He innocently ask a friend from his school for a date.

Or, what if you have an unsecured wireless network ( how many of you know what this is?) and a neighbor sits out side your home at night and communicates with a minor.

YOU, because it's your computer, can be charged with soliciting a minor for sex.

Of course there is an exception but how do you prove you did not know the computer was being used to solicit a child.

MONTGOMERY -- Adults using a computer to solicit a juvenile for sexual activity could find themselves without a home, car or computer.

The Alabama House voted 95-0 to pass a bill by Democratic Rep. Ken Guin of Carbon Hill that allows authorities to confiscate the property of a person convicted of using a computer to lure a young person to meet for sexual reasons.

An exception is the house, car or other property can't be confiscated if it is needed by a spouse or child who did not know the computer was being used to solicit a child.

The bill was originally sponsored by Democratic Rep. Lea Fite of Jacksonville. Fite died of a heart attack in October. The bill was named the Lea Fite Child Protection Act.

If I understand correctly NF, there will be a test to verify whether Grandpa knew his grandson was looking at kiddie porn before they will take Grandpa's assets. It won't be just a "did you know," but they will investigate Grandpa. It won't be an instantaneous thing but it will be a better deterrant for Grandpa to not turn a blind eye to the predator that Little Johnny has become. This is a very good thing.
