Alabama Republicans are showing their colors at an alarming rate. How many does this make? At what point do Alabama voters start to realize the corruption in Alabama? The top 4 Republicans, in Alabama politics, have all been put in jail.
Meanwhile, local Republicans rail over John Edwards, Hillary, Obama, and Democrats in general.

Former House majority leader to be sentenced for mail fraud

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — A federal judge will sentence former Alabama House Majority Leader Rep. Micky Hammon for felony mail fraud.

Hammon pleaded guilty in September to using campaign funds for personal expenses. U.S. District Judge Myron H. Thompson is scheduled to sentence Hammon at 7:30 a.m. on Thursday.

U.S. Attorney Louis Franklin said Hammon would withdraw money from the campaign committee's bank account by writing a check to himself.

Prosecutors are asking that Hammon forfeit $40,000.

The Decatur lawmaker was automatically removed from office last year because the charge is a felony.

The 60-year-old Republican has served in the legislature since 2002. He is best known for authoring a stringent 2011 immigration law that was largely overturned by federal courts.

Okay, let us say for a moment that a crook wants to position themselves into politics so that they can accomplish what their goals are which is to enrich themselves and so, therefore, their motivation is the criminal deeds that they are planning to do.  Rationally thinking about it, if it were you, which political party would you choose to run under if you wanted to succeed and get elected to position and enable yourself to do what you set out to do?

I would say if you lived in Alabama and wanted to be elected your chances would be much greater if you ran as a Republican these days.  In the 1950's and 1960's running as a Democrat, as Judge Roy Moore did, would have ensured your chances to be elected would be far greater.  If you lived in California, New York, New Jersey or Michigan then running as a Democrat would make more sense and give you a better chance at being elected regardless of your own personal convictions which wouldn't matter anyway because your goal was not to do good for the State or your constituents but to position yourself in a job/position that would enable you to enrich yourself through ill-gotten means and using what power you might have to get people to pay your for favors.

So what is the real issue then?  Are Republicans crooks or crooked or are intelligent criminals choosing the party that best enables them to get elected?  All you have to do is look at some of the Washington politicians and their wealth after entering the office to see the corruption there.  Look at Harry Reid and how he made himself rich on a Government salary.  How about Dan Rostenkowski.  Then there are Republicans in Congress like Dennis Hastert.

You may be right about another Republican going down or being found out but I think you are way off base if you are trying to imply that they are cooked because they are Republican.  I believe they were crooked from the start and just chose the party that best enabled them to position themselves where they needed to be in order to do what they set out to do. But then I doubt you will agree with that analysis.  I tend to believe that there are crooks and criminals in both parties but hopefully, they are far and few between those that get into it to serve the people and the public rather than themselves.

Democrat or Republican ... show me a hand full of politicians, in Washington, from either party that has not greatly enriched themselves after being elected.  You'll have a tough time finding many poor or middle-class Democrats as well.  It cuts both ways I'm afraid and that's not to say that what these politicians are doing is illegal but rather that they are in a position to enrich themselves based upon the information they are able to see and so they usually take advantage of that.  Also, there are all kinds of people in industry and business that want something that is always willing to make political contributions to campaigns and promise nice Board of Director positions to Politicians for when they leave office or may have a place in their organization for some relative of the Congressman or Senator etc.  Sorry to say but they all do it, both parties.  The flaws and weaknesses are in the indivudual and not the political parties.    At least that's what I believe and that's my opinion.
