It's new and looks very nice but I have no idea what it's going to be nor it's name other than to speculate at this point in time.  The only things I do know is the building is being renovated to be a rather large Restaurant and it's going to be located on 2nd Street diagonally across from Champy's' Chicken and owned by and run by the same people that have connections with Champy's.

It appears that it might be a Steakhouse type restaurant similar to OhBryans or Stanfields with Steak, Chicken, and Fish but  it's not that far along to be able to tell anything but it's going to be a restaurant.  That's evident from the booths constructed inside, the Restaurant grade ventilation units installed on the roof above the kitchen area.  From the looks of the building I first thought a more upscale dining type place but the inside accommodations look more like a nice family steakhouse like Big Mikes used to be or like Oh Bryans or Standfield's Steakhouse.

I for one miss Big Mikes and think that another place similar to Stanfields and OhBryans could be supported in the area.  I hope they do good, Champy's seems to do well and they always have the freshest of Fried Chicken there cooked as  you order.  I do miss the concept of Big Mikes when it was on Chisolm Rd where you could go in and order a steak cut specifically for you and then you could actually watch it being grilled on the grill over the chargrill.  They also had great hushpuppies.

Only time will tell what it's going to be, unless someone one here has connections and can enlighten us prior to when it's actually revealed.

About two years ago, there was a TD article about Champy's owners buying the property for a new restaurant; then the building was damaged by high winds and nothing was said for a while. Last April there was a new article in the TD that said only one Champy's owner, Gary Monroe, would be opening the eatery,  but there was no name given.

Champy's has a few other locations but the concept is the same and the roadhouse type environment what with the 1/2 of the restaurant open and out on say a patio type setup or porch type setup is their way of doing business and the new restaurant isn't anything like that.

It's a decent guess but I don't think it's going to be the case of them just moving across the street.  While I didn't get a very good view of the new place I don't think that it's going to be like Champy's where they can have a band playing and dining outside.

I asked an employee at Champy's about the new restaurant today. And they knew about them putting it in, but didn't know what type of restaurant it would be. From the looks of the building, I think it will be a dine-in/sit-down restaurant, though those are just my thoughts.

Once they put up the awnings outside, it may give a better idea as to what type of food the restaurant will serve. My guesses are:

Black Awnings = American Restaurant or Steakhouse

Blue or Yellow Awnings= Mexican Restaurant

Brown Awnings = Western Restaurant/Saloon

Green Awnings = Bakery-Type/Sandwich Restaurant

Orange Awnings = Chicken Restaurant(I think we have good idea it won't specialize in chicken)

Pink Awnings= Donut Shop(I don't think it will be a Donut Shop, but I have no idea)

Red Awnings = Pizza Restaurant

Actually I was at Champy's today for lunch, myself, and talked to Wade who is 1/2 of the two that are bringing the new restaurant in.  According to Wade they are not ready to reveal what it's going to be but it's not going to be like Oh Bryans or Stanfield's steakhouse but he said it would be something totally different than what we have in the area now.

I don't know what that means but he did indicate it would be a different concept of a restaurant like Champy's is different.  I don't know what that meant and didn't follow it up because he was busy but I hope whatever they do it will be successful for them the same as I would like to see anyone succeed when they bring a new business to town.

Hmm... Different.... I think I am even more intrigued now.

I am changing my original guess because I don't think a seafood restaurant could be "different" enough. That said, here are my 3 new guesses:

1. Brewhouse similar to Big River in Chattanooga, TN.

2. Pizza Restaurant similar to Earth And Stone Wood Fired Pizza or Pieology.

3. I am combination of guesses 1 and 2.
