You say "bush lied about the war". What did he "lie" about? WMD's, everybody (too include your buddies on the left) believed Iraq had WMD's and you know it's a **** lie to say otherwise. Were mistakes made in Iraq? Of course there were. In hind site we could have:
1. Not disbanded the Iraqi military
2. Better expectations of the "insurgent" problem (should have went in with more troops at first)
I'm sure if the President had a crystal ball, before the war, he would have covered these things. Unfortunately, he doesn't have one. So you go on with your "Bush Lied" line. Just remember that your left leaning buddies had the same intel that the President had and they voted for the war too.
I cannot speak for others, but I SAY that Bush Lied about the war in Iraq before the 2000 election by NOT saying that he was going to "solve" the Saddam Hussain problem by invading Iraq. It was on the top of his agenda by the time he was sworn in. It was a goal for at least three years before he was sworn in, and he not only never mentioned regime change in Iraq in the Campaign, HE SAID HE WAS NOT INTERESTED IN NATION BUILDING.
THAT WAS A LIE.
He cooked the books on the intell regarding Iraq, and said that he would wait for the inspectors to finish searching before deciding to invade. THEN he cooked up a tall tale about mushroom clouds and an Iraqi Nuclear Weapons Program that did not exist to create a sense of urgency to INVADE Iraq before the UN had an opportunity to lift or modify the sanctions that were starving Iraq's economy. I say that was a LIE.
I say that telling War Planners in the Pentagon to find a way to accomplish the "mission" of regime change with 35 thousand troops, and then rejecting their force level of half a million was incompetence in support of the LIE that the Iraqi people would welcome an invasion with Roses and parades.
IF YOU LIVE IN DENIAL, YOU BETTER HAVE A BOAT, AND AN ADDRESS IN EGYPT.
How did he "cook the books that your left eaning buddies looked at? No matter how you spin it, the Dems voted for the **** war and there isn't a **** thing you can do about it. The reason we went in with the smaller force can be laid directly at the feet of Rumsfelds feet. He had the mistaken impression that the Iraqi's would be able to pickup the country on their own after Saddam was gone. It sucks not to have the 20/20 vision that hindsight has when you are making the decisions in real time. The president wasn't interested in nation building, just as you said. He has said on more than one occasion that Iraq is not the fight now that we expected at first. However, it is the fight we are dealing with now and we have to see it through to the end. Besides, you can think everything he has ever said is a lie if you want. You already have that preconceived notion and nothing anybody else says or does is going to change that. I will, however, jump in any time I feel like you are distorting the facts on any subject so that others aren't lead astray by the deception.
Southern Patriot, you have to be aware of the investigations of the "intelligence failures."
Bush Cooked the books by NOT INCLUDING the caveats with the Intell. The Wilson mission to verify or negate the yellowcake deal was a caveat. Wilson found no evidence of the deal. Bush still announced the deal was either struck or negotiatiated. That is COOKING THE BOOKS. The Weapons inspectors interim reports said no WMD, they were there to verify or negate the presence of WMD...they were negating and Bush told them to get out of the country, and the US army would find and destroy the WMD. There was no WMD. That is COOKING THE BOOKS. Bush said Hussain support for Palestinian Terrorists was proof that Hussain supported Al Qaeda, if not a lie, that was at least not the conclusion that the CIA, Massad, MI 5 and the renamed KGB had come to. That is COOKING THE BOOKS.
Fact, Hussain used poison gas in the Iraq Iran war. Falacy, Hussain had poison gas in his arsenal.
Fact, Iraq had a stalled nuclear power program. Fallacy, Iraq was developing nuclear weapons capability.
Fact, Hussain put down opposition with force.
Fallacy, he wantonly murdered his own citizens for perverse satisfaction.
That is COOKING THE BOOKS.
The bumper sticker that says all that is, "BUSH LIED PEOPLE DIED."
