Well looks like finally the doors are closed at the Mexican restaurant that was in the old Guthry's Chicken building that is located across from Five Guys.  Also closed is the Chinese restaurant that is in the old Shoney's building that is adjacent to Popeyes Chicken.

This is in Florence, Alabama and not Huntsville (sorry for not clarifying that initially) and the restaurant, that Guthry's Chicken occupied, is indeed across from or can be easily viewed across Florence Blvd, from Five Guy's Parking lot.  The property, that the defunct Mexican Restaurant that went out of business is indeed adjacent to and just East of the Bank Independent Bank building.

As for the Peking Chinese restaurant (I believe that is the name) it is adjacent to Popeyes Chicken building, just west of it and is on the site where the Captain D's restaurant was before it was moved to it's current location.  Sorry if the terminology is vague but adjacent to or next to usually means essentially the same thing.

There is room for only 500 Chinese or Mexican restaurants in this town.  Something had to give.

As far as I am concerned, Mexican restaurants can come and go.
When I was lilving in Memphis, back before there was a Chinese restaurant on every corner and a Mexican across from it, the oldest and best known Mexican restaurant in Memphis was Pancho's .
My GF from Alabama came up with some friends to spend the weekend, and we went there.
Next morning, we were all kinda queezy, but eventually it "passed" and by Sunday Evening we were all OK
Next day, as I was on my way to work about 4 oclock (I worked second shifrt) , I heard on the radio that they had arrested the owner of Pancho's for putting cat and dog in his dishes. His only defense was "good Mexican food always has cat and dog in it" .
I wouldn't even go to a Taco Bell for years after that and still seldom eat Mexican.

Concerning the local Mexican restaurants, in the local Florence, area (with a few exceptions such as Rosies, which some might say is more texmex) most of the Mexican restaurants such as Casa Mexicana, La Hacienda, Fiesta Mexicana etc, get their supplies and food from the same vendor located in Atlanta, Georgia.  Pretty much they have similar, if not identical offerings and menus and prepare them in similar ways.

As for the local offerings here I've heard the best, favorable, comments regarding Lahacienda, In the K-Mart center off Cox Creek Parkway, and the Mall Road (Florence) location of Casa Mexicana.  That may not be saying much but thought I would pass it along and see if anyone else can confirm that.

Wasn't the cat and dog meat that did it.

Most likely, the "Budget" Margaritas...mixed with Tequila...from, Russia.

You get what you pay for.
