Trouble brewing in Bingoville! Milton McGregor indicted along with others, including legislators. Casino gambling and corruption found in bed together again!

FBI agents armed with arrest warrants today gobbled up 11 legislators, lobbyists and the owner of the state's largest electronic bingo casino, all indicted in a scheme to buy and sell votes that prosecutors called "astonishing in scope."

Excerpt from the transcript,Item 78, exemplifying the genteel character of Mr. Gilley:

"78.
One minute later, on or about March 24, 2010, when GILLEY called MASSEY from a different phone, MASSEY stated, “Hey, sorry, I forgot.” Returning to the subject of MEANS’s request for $100,000, GILLEY told MASSEY that “he can one-hundred percent count on our support.” GILLEY continued, “We’re gonna support who supports democracy. And the motherf***** who doesn’t support democracy get ready to get their ****ing ass busted.”

Ah, yes, these fine gentlemen are just working so hard to uphold the principles of our democratic way of life. If you are against casino gambling, you are against democracy and shame on your sorry butt!

And throw away the keys!

And, predictably, here comes Roger Bedford, the Prince of Pork, to disclose what is behind all this. Why, it's election politics, grouses Roger. The timing tells it all. The scheming ole U.S. Attorney scheduled these indictments to have maximum influence in the upcoming election.

Asks Roger: "Why would they not wait three more weeks until after the elections if this wasn't designed to influence the outcome of an election?" Bedford said.

Maybe 'cause they don't schedule everything as you would prefer, Roger. Maybe 'cause when all the "i"'s have been dotted and all the "t"'s crossed and the indictment is drawn up nice and tight--maybe that is the time to unload the indictment on the scheming varmints who have been buying and selling votes in the legislature. Maybe that's it, Roger. That ever occur to you, or is it always and forever about politics?

This time, whatever else it is about, it is about corruption. Dissenters are invited to read the indictment. It is truly a dilly! Here 'tis:

I looked over there on al.com and read all the politico-paranoid prattle that is being posted there. It is obvious that none of those conspiracy theorists have read the indictment or they would not be so eager to leap to the defense of the indictees.

My skin is more than thick enough to resist excoriation by such ninnies.
There is something to think about before casting a vote in the 5'th Congressional district. Raby might have a case of special interest rabies.

U.S. 5th Congressional District candidate Steve Raby continued trying to distance himself today from a link between his former business and a federal investigation into bribery allegations involving electronic bingo legislation.

Raby’s business reportedly worked with four north Alabama political action committees that were used to route $200,000 from a Dothan casino owner to a state senator who has been indicted in the case.

The federal indictment unsealed Monday states the owner of the Country Crossing casino in Dothan, Ronnie Gilley, sent four checks of $50,000 each to four PACs in north Alabama. The PACs were operated by Raby before he began his run for the U.S. House.

You are bound to get something right every now and then. Even a blind pig occasionally picks up an acorn!

Funny, I was thinking the same thing about you... except you were a squirrel...
