Joy,

Thanks for the information. I followed the instructions and I am pretty sure I sent a private message to mandomama. I guess I should have figured out to look under 'new' to send a 'new' message to a 'new' person.

That's my county school education, I guess!

is there some kind of instant messaging on here since we aren't supposed to put our contact information?

At top of screen under new - then click private message and choose nickname of person you want to pm. If it doesn't work, that person may have chosen to not receive private messages.

You're welcome. I had a graduating class of 66. Self-taught would best describe my education. Smiler No, I'm exaggerating. I did have some awesome teachers, but there were a few...

Of course, without those few, what would we laugh about at class reunions?
why has this subject turned into a flaming board war? I reread back thru the entire thread a couple days ago,12 pages i think at that point. it was at the point where the "coach' had come onto the forums and given his/her story on the issue and i made the sarcastic remark to call the Jerry Springer Show. I suggest that route even STRONGER this morning(sarcasm).
This is an issue that is serious, and deals with our children, and YES I said OUR, because they are the ones to become adults,to function and run our community in the future. We may not have our own child involved, but that possiblity is there for it to happen to anyones child/grandchild and needs to be addressed with maturity. There is very little showing on this thread!
i suggest that AM lock this thread, delete it,whatever it takes to close this issue. It has left the area of discussing and entering into the slanderous, name calling BS that created the issue between 12 yr olds.

I'm fine with that. I feel a little uncomfortable with knowing this much about a situation I am in no way affiliated with, to tell you the truth. I know they were only defending themselves since we were discussing the issue and they saw it; so I'm NOT criticizing anybody at BHS. I think it's okay to be aware there is a problem and okay to call for the Lauderdale County Board of Education to act on it if the school does not (although I think they are probably on top of it now). But, yes, I'm uncomfortable knowing all the intimate details.

Let's see, how did Mom teach me to handle situations like these? Don't press charges and hold them accountable for their behavior. Leave the job you worked hard for because God forbid you stand up for yourself.

NO, she should not leave her school and NO, she should not be silent. She and her family should use every legal means at their fingertips to claim her rights. I would imagine the teachers and administrators at Brooks AGREE WITH THAT and are applauding their efforts because it is helping them discipline children that quite obviously need some discipline.

Like I said, I don't need to know who did what and when they did it. Vandalism and death threats warrant discipline.

I AM NOT ONE TO BACK DOWN FROM AN ARGUMENT OR A FIGHT, JOY. WHAT I AM SAYING THAT IF THERE IS ENOUGH PHYSICAL AND MENTAL ABUSE AND THERE IS A TRUE DEATH THREAT THAT THE CHILD IS ACTUALLY SCARED TO GO TO SCHOOL AND THAT YOU ARE BRINGING IN THE MEDIA TO SHED LIGHT ON THE SITUATION. PUT HER FIRST TAKE HER OUT OF DANGER AND THEN STAND YOUR GROUND. DON'T EVEN THINK FOR ONE MINUTE I AM SAYING DON'T PURSUE IT LEGALLY. BUT ARE YOU TELLING ME IF YOU ACTUALLY THINK SOMEONE IS GOING TO SLIT YOUR CHILD'S THROAT YOU ARE GOING TO SEND THEM BACK TO BE ATTACKED! GIVE ME SOME CREDIT AS A FELLOW PARENT, I WOULD HOLLER, SCREAM, PITCH FIT AFTER FIT ON TOP OF WHOEVER'S DESK I WOULD HAVE TO PURSUE JUSTICE IN THE SITUATION, BUT IF YOU ARE ASKING IF I WOULD CONTINUE TO PUT MY CHILD IN HARM'S WAY FOR ME TO MAKE A FRIGGIN' POINT YOU'RE NUTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ah, this explains the following comment you made about me on another thread.

Originally posted by lookn2it: I'm fairly new to this board and after reading alot from Joy...I would have to agree. If she/he is "joy" I would hate to see pissed.

I wondered where this was coming from. First of all, I should not have directed my vehemence regarding 'standing up for yourself' at you. I apologize. I should have simply stated how I felt about it and not been a smart aleck. Sorry about that. This thread seems to have brought the fire out of everyone. I will attempt to not let my passion about a subject turn me into an ogre next time.

Joy, Sorry too about the snide comment on the other thread I think this subject is too close to home for me too. You seem fair in most of your other posts this one just seemed awfully explosive from the beginning didn't it? Again, Bad topic, bad week, bad temperament on my part. sorry Frowner
Then Joy, I owe you a HUGE apology... I just woke up to that comment, and at that time of morning, my thinking isn't what it should be.

I also agree with smurph about this thread being locked, it HAS gotten so far off the topic, it is unreal.

I take responsibility for helping it go off-track, and would not mind being deleted for it.

I just hope the School, BOE, and the Parents of ALL the children involved are able to work out a workable solution.

Now, I am going to hush, I think I have said too much already, and if I stepped on anyone's toes, then I apologize. This is a touchy subject for me, and I tended to get a little heated, that is MY problem, not you guys, and I truly apologize.

After re-reading these threads it occurs to me that some of you may have misunderstood that I was the "coach" / teacher that was being discussed in the current news story. I am not and apologize if my comments confused anyone. I was Ashley's cheer coach (a volunteer, not a school employee) several years ago. I came to the forum after being told that negative things were being written about me in a forum that involved the accusations against BHS, which had nothing to do with me. I am not involved in that situation in any way and was shocked my name came up in this forum, a discussion of the current situation. This led me to defend myself herein. I apologize again in case any of you misunderstood and thought I was the "coach" referred to in the news story. My thoughts and prayers continue to be with everyone involved in the current situation.

This is regarding the comment concerning this being a "Cheerleader" problem. This does not have anything to do with the High School cheerleaders. The incident dicussed happened when Ashley was in the 6th grade and was on the elementary cheer squad. Our Brooks High cheerleaders...both JV and Varsity are not involved in this situation at all. I thought that needed to be cleared up.
