K.S. I agree, the only thing that I can see as to why they want this war to keep going, is for the big oil and control of it all.
Although OIL may play a small role... POWER and MONEY play a much bigger one... MUCH bigger!!! The most dangerous people in the world are the POWER SEEKERS... they have NO pattern, they are just all over the place... they just are like a dog... HUNTING POWER, whereever they can find it...

OIL is a very big part of this, but it is not the objective. KS you are correct, and so is pba.
The control of Oil is ONE FACTOR in controling economies. When you hear we are dependent on oil, you hear the truth. When you hear WE are dependent on foreigh oil it is the truth.
The Truth is that ALL INDUSTRY, HERE OR ABROAD IS DEPENDENT ON ENERGY.
Few sources of energy exist, Sunlight, Hydropower, Coal, Oil, Nuclear, biomass, and, to a limited extent, chemical.

Without energy, there is no industry. No manufacturing, transportation, mechanized agriculture or energy dependent services.
Controlling Oil controls the economy. It is the basic source of fuel for transportation, it is the raw material for polymer technology (plastics mainly) It is the raw material for MOST pavemet (tar) and it is the prefered fuel for heating.
The Mid East oil is important in this, but so is the land itself. Russia has the ability to defend its oil resources against all comers.
But, without transit routes, it cannot distrubute its oil. Russia is "virtually" land locked. It has a very limited access to sea lanes. Chechneya is an oil rich region, it borders Iran, Chechneyan oil could be transported by pipeline through Iran, and to Iranian Sea ports. IRAN, AS A BARRICADE is important to US control of energy distribution and dominance of FAR EASTERN economies.
