The democrats attached the two bills together??? I thought the republicans were top dogs in both houses.

Unlike Reid, the Republicans allow amendments.

Democrats want a clean bill. They don't want the one with the anti-immigration riders that the Republicans attached.

I'm on the fence when it comes to HLS. I've never been a fan. However, we have handed off so much of our national security to them that we can't just cold turkey defund them. When GW and his administration took our freedoms with the Patriot Act we were saddled with this new agency. Many people (including myself) saw it for what it was and knew that we were trading our rights and freedoms for so called safety. Now look at the TSA and tell me how shaking down little old ladies and children are supposed to keep us safe? 

We should change the laws that make it hard for the CIA and the FBI to share info and give those agencies the ability to safe guard the country. We don't need HLS. 

Democrats are playing dog in the manger concerning this bill -- but so do most parties.  However, we should hear no more of how the Dems are the party that cares for the American working man and woman.  The amnesty ensures more and more fill come in to fill jobs at lower pay.  Its a devil's match of those wishing no limit on immigration to buy votes and the chamber of commerce lobbyists.

gasoline and taxes are going up due repub desire to ruin the economy as did bush.

If I had been Mitch McConnel I would have pulled out Harry Reids Neuclear option and Obama's Immigration bill would not have been funded because it would have only took 51 Votes to pass it, but Obama would have Vetoed it and shut down Hs and then turned and said "the Republicans shut it down" all either Party cares about is blaming the other for everything so that they can get to be the majority Party so they can spend the Money, and don't matter who is President the other party takes out after him like a pack of Dogs and before you know it he is low down. but I agree that the one we have now is a habitual Liar, he don't know the truth when he hears it.

This is not rep or dem. Why can't congress vote on one thing?   Both sides seem to want to add some radical thing to a simple bill.
