Crash it has been answered, the place of government is safety. One might add in roads, education. However running our day to day lives is not the place of government.  Conservatives believe in smaller government, less taxes, more freedom.  Government is not there to give to me, but they should stay out of my way and allow me to do for myself.  Stop taking from me, over regulating and stopping me from doing. Stop giving to unions (get them out of government), stop picking winners and losers, stop controlling everything.  Politicians and media are biased, fact bending. We need less of them not more.  So back to your question, the main thing is get government out of our way. Those who can do, those who can't work for government.

no, the question has NOT been answered... conservatives do NOT believe in smaller government... or less regulation... republicons want to regulate the internet, women's bodies, morality.... and the list continues... republicons give out tons of welfare, it's just corporate welfare. the media has a job. the media is a  large protector of our democracy. without them, there would be no public check/balance in a majority of our government, at least not today.  and i'm sorry that you don't understand, we all pay into a central government to promote general infrastructure and public well-being. to my knowledge the saying is 'those who can, do. those who can't, teach."

In my opinion, and it's not worth that much, whatever the Democrats did in the past for the Middle Class, everything was eliminated and offset with their passage of Democratic Healthcare Bill (aka Obamacare).  That fiasco was entirely the Democrats making and doing and has created the situation we find ourselves in today.  Cases where often only one Insurance company exist to provide insurance and at enormous rates with intolerable deductibles no one can stand.

Before the Democrats got involved I paid around $130 a month for family coverage which had a $400.00 family deductible after which Insurance paid 80% of most charges.  AFTER Democrats implemented their disaster my family policy went up to $240.00 a moth for coverage but worse, the deductible, rose to an unbelievable $8,000.00 before insurance paid their 80%.

Lets assume my family had $10,000.00 in medical bills which has happened several times and actually more but for this example say $10,000.00 in bills.  Many, a great many families, had far more than $10,000 in expenses so the cost to the family only increased that much more.

BEFORE DEMOCRATS messed with it

$400.00 out of my families pocket before insurance took over$9600.00 charged of which insurance paid 80% so we paid 20% of $9600 or  $1920 out of our pocket so my PRE-Democrat medical cost was $1920 + $400 or a total of $2320.00 in medical expenses plus add to that my cost for the insurance was $130 a month or $1560 a year so total medical expenses for the pre-democratic healthcare was $3880.00 for the year

AFTER DEMOCRATS messed with it

$10,000 in charges ... $8,000.00  out of my families pocket before insurance covered anything.  Insurance paid 80% toward the remaining $2000.00 expenses which meant I paid 20% of the $2000 remaining or $400.00.  So total after Democrat medical cost for treatment was $8400.00.   My cost for medical health insurance also was now $240 a month or  $2880.00 a year.  Total (Thanks to Democrats) family  healthcare cost $ 11,280.00 or an INCREASE of $7,400.00 thanks ENTIRELY to Democrats.

Now from my particular point of view it seemed I, and my family, went from having health insurance to not being covered as our medical cost, direct out of our pocket cost, INCREASED $7,400.00 over what it was BEFORE  the Democrats helped me out.  One other thing I noticed after the Democrats got involved was that two of my personal Doctors left the medicine field and retired solely because of "Obamacare".  I had ask them why they were retiring and that was the reason they gave.

Now you may be trying to say Democrats helped the little guy or the worker or family man but for my Family the Democrats COST ME a lot more than Republicans ever did.  Those figures and cost I can prove and verify because it happened to me, my family, and it happened BECAUSE of Democrats getting involved with healthcare and insurance, not because of Republicans.

So tell me Crash ... just how am I better off because of what Democrats did?  I guess if I wanted a sex change operation or abortion then it would now be a medical insurance covered event but I don't consider that doing ME or my family any favors.  Democrats said Healthcare meddling was necessary because a few wasn't covered by insurance and they should have been but what the Democrats EFFECTIVLY did was to make it as if multitudes more (many more millions) essentially didn't have health insurance protection against medical cost that they would incur.  The extremely high deductibles that these (more expensive) insurance policies now carried meant that essentially it was like a family NOT having insurance anymore.

You ask what Republicans have done for the middle class I'm asking how this Democratic invention and meddling helped out the middle class and families like mine?  I await your reply!

CRASH -  ON May 25th,  I posted the above and requested a reply from you with regards to what I stated in the post.   You seemed to be asking what various members felt were Republicans contributions to the middle class and Americans and I presented a reply with several URL links that essentially listed accomplishments that were attributed to republicans.  I also realize that the Democrats have had their share of contributions over the years as well.

One of those contributions was the Democratic imposed Healthcare or Obamacare and I specifically listed what was my own families situation, repeated above, and ask just how can you or any other person explain to me that I and my middle class family has benefited because of this legislation?    The republicans may do no better but it was the Democrats that put this horrible piece of legislation in effect, it is their baby so how can you say they helped me out?

Crash neglects the fact that if we allow the Obama status quo spending to continue that the CBO projects that the national debt will increase by $10 Trillion:   https://www.nytimes.com/2017/0...icit-trump.html?_r=0

As for Obamadidn'tcare, the system was obviously meant to be a failing precursor to single payer healthcare that in one respect worked (It's failing!) but most of those evil capitalists didn't dump their employees into the system before it failed. I believe dems hoped to set conditions where the only possible replacement is socialists-never-care single payer, but dems are overachievers on failure and the whole thing flopped too soon.

i didn't ask you opinion on democrat party policy... i asked for a specific republican policy that helped the middle class. not a list of links. not a policy shared by democrats and republicons... one little policy , written by republicons, that was to help the middle class. and you can skip the 'civil rights' bs, after devos backed segregation, last week.  after two pages of replies... you wouldn't think it would be all that hard to just name one.

When are you going to realize no one wants conned into your
sillyazz jt type ******* nonsense, why don't you go burn a
patrol car or beat a defenceless very old homeless person.

you know, it should alarm the republicons that they can't name even one policy, but i'm sure it's obama's fault. if they could name one, they'd be all over it. they can whine and complain about democratic party policy, but they just can't answer the question... it has to be hard to face that, or it would be for me, if republicons were my party of choice.

You said you didn't want links but equally as bad would be retyping what was already listed in the links but I will then, in addition to my previous post that did list various links cite the following to amend to that list:

http://www.u-s-history.com/pages/h2052.html

and

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Contract_with_America

The Contract with America was proposed by the Republicans or call it policy of the Republicans who signed it.  Most of it was not implemented due to it not making it out of Congress and Bill Clinton vetoing other parts so some parts did pass  but it was responsible for the Republicans taking over Congress.

The reasoning of the Republicans was related to:

Accountability. The government is too big and spends too much, and Congress and unelected bureaucrats have become so entrenched to be unresponsive to the public they are supposed to serve. The GOP contract restores accountability to government.

Responsibility. Bigger government and more federal programs usurp personal responsibility from families and individuals. The GOP contract restores a proper balance between government and personal responsibility.

Opportunity. The American Dream is out of the reach of too many families because of burdensome government regulations and harsh tax laws. The GOP contract restores the American dream.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Contract with America stated:   (this was their positions/policy)

First: Require all laws that apply to the rest of the country also apply equally to the Congress.    (Note Obamacare didn't apply to the Politicians so if the Republicans had been successful in this then I doubt they would have ever passed Obamacare because they wouldn't want to have to live under it)

Second: Select a major, independent auditing firm to conduct a comprehensive audit of Congress for waste, fraud or abuse.

Third: Cut the number of House committees, and cut committee staff by one-third.

Fourth: Limit the terms of all committee chairs.

Fifth: Ban the casting of proxy votes in committee.

Sixth: Require committee meetings to be open to the public.

Seventh: Require a three-fifths majority vote to pass a tax increase.

Eighth: Guarantee an honest accounting of our Federal Budget by implementing zero base-line budgeting.

Thereafter, within the first 100 days of the 104th Con gress, we shall bring to the House Floor the following bills, each to be given full and open debate, each to be given a clear and fair vote and each to be immediately available this day for public inspection and scrutiny.

1. The Fiscal Responsibility Act

A balanced budget/tax limitation amendment and a legislative line-item veto to restore fiscal responsibility to an out-of-control Congress, requiring them to live under the same budget constraints as families and businesses.

2. The Taking Back Our Streets Act

An anti-crime package including stronger truth-in-sentencing, "good faith" exclusionary rule exemptions, effective death penalty provisions, and cuts in social spending from this summer's "crime" bill to fund prison construction and additional law enforcement to keep people secure in their neighborhoods and kids safe in their schools.

3. The Personal Responsibility Act

Discourage illegitimacy and teen pregnancy by prohibiting welfare to minor mothers and denying increased AFDC for additional children while on welfare, cut spending for welfare programs, and enact a tough two-years-and-out provision with work requirements to promote individual responsibility.

4. The Family Reinforcement Act

Child support enforcement, tax incentives for adoption, strengthening rights of parents in their children's education, stronger child ****ography laws, and an elderly dependent care tax credit to reinforce the central role of families in American society.

5. The American Dream Restoration Act

A S500 per child tax credit, begin repeal of the marriage tax penalty, and creation of American Dream Savings Accounts to provide middle class tax relief.

6. The National Security Restoration Act

No U.S. troops under U.N. command and restoration of the essential parts of our national security funding to strengthen our national defense and maintain our credibility around the world.

7. The Senior Citizens’ Fairness Act

Raise the Social Security earnings limit which currently forces seniors out of the work force, repeal the 1993 tax hikes on Social Security benefits and provide tax incentives for private long-term care insurance to let Older Americans keep more of what they have earned over the years.

8. The Job Creation and Wage Enhancement Act

Small business incentives, capital gains cut and indexation, neutral cost recovery, risk assessment/cost-benefit analysis, strengthening the Regulatory Flexibility Act and unfunded mandate reform to create jobs and raise worker wages.

9. The Common Sense Legal Reform Act

"Loser pays" laws, reasonable limits on punitive damages and reform of product liability laws to stem the endless tide of litigation.

10. The Citizen Legislature Act

A first-ever vote on term limits to replace career politicians with citizen legislators.

Further, we will instruct the House Budget Committee to report to the floor and we will work to enact additional budget savings, beyond the budget cuts specifically included in the legislation described above, to ensure that the Federal budget deficit will be less than it would have been without the enactment of these bills.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I (personally) believe that the Republicans had some great policies, ideas, proposals and I think we'd be far better off if all of them had passed.  I also don't remember the Democrats ever putting forth what they believe in and making open and public recommendations as to what they want to do then strive to do it.

gbrk, while i appreciate your attempt.... you've listed a lot of republicon hopes. you even state 'most of this didn't pass'... then why list it? i'm looking for republicon policy, made by republicons, that helped the middle class... if 'most of this didn't pass as legislation'... then why list it?
