The US Chamber of Commerce has become the latest enemy of American liberals.
Now, apparently, it's become the enemy of American workers as well.
According to the liberal blog ThinkProgress, the US Chamber of Commerce recently sponsored an event that instructed US firms how to outsource jobs to China alongside the "Chinese" branch of the American Chamber of Commerce, AmCham.
"The Chinese AmCham has worked closely with the U.S. Chamber and the Chinese government to sponsor a series of seminars in America to teach American businesses how to outsource jobs to China (called the China Grassroots Program)," ThinkProgress' Lee Fang wrote Tuesday. "Below is an invite to an event sponsored by the right-wing billionaire Sheldon Adelson, inviting local businesses in Florida to come to Jacksonville and learn about outsourcing from Chinese government officials like Li Haiyan, the Counselor for Economic Affairs for the People’s Republic of China, U.S. Chamber lobbyist Joseph Fawkner, and BChinaB, a firm that specializes in helping American firms outsource their manufacturing jobs to China."
ThinkProgress has also documented contributions from companies that underwrite the Chamber's activities (the Chamber's activities are underwritten by corporate contributions and membership dues). Among the group's biggest backers include top outsourcers of American jobs:
– InfoSys, Bangalore, India (at least $15,000 in annual member dues): “Infosys is the ‘Best Outsourcing Partner’ according to the Waters Rankings for the third consecutive year.”
– KPIT Cummins, Pune, India ($7,500): “Strategic global networking, together with industry-proven practices & processes, give KPIT Cummins a cutting edge in the realm of outsourcing.”
– Patni Americas, Mumbai, India ($15,000): “Patni, the world leader in IT outsourcing and business process outsourcing provides offshore software development, global sourcing, custom software development, and a vast array of product engineering and IT services to companies worldwide.”

– QuEST Global, Singapore ($7,500): “QuEST is a leader in the engineering services outsourcing (ESO) space.”
– Rolta, Mumbai, India ($7,500): “Rolta’s global footprint and track record along with its capable off-shoring model gives it a unique positioning in this large market.”

Foreign companies can contribute to the Chamber of Commerce's 501c(6) account, which the organization uses to fund political ads.
