Ate there yesterday.

Service was excellent....no reason it should not have been since there were at least 5 or 6 wait staff waiting on only a few total tables.

Food was school lunchroom type food but with normal sit down restaurant pricing. Nothing like I remember it as far as food quality, etc. I don't think there were 3 or 4 other tables in use when I was there at lunchtime.

Big disappointment. Total ticket for family came to somewhere over 30 bucks...money not very well spent.

Have been there when the steaks were so tender you could cut them with a fork and the potatoes tasted freshly baked and the rolls were to die for....and the last year or so -- not so much. We went to eat there one evening on the way back to Florence and had to listen to the manager rake every employee over the coals for about 10 minutes BEFORE SHE SAT US...yes, you heard me right, customers standing in the front and she made sure to finish her staff meeting first...that set up the rest of a horrible dinner...one of which at least 3 plates were inedible and she didn't offer a refund, a credit or a discount...we haven't been back and probably won't...
I ate there a couple of months ago.The food was actually really good. The service has horrible. I only saw my server 2 times the entire time. I was by myself and they sat me at a booth in the bar room. It was a Thursday night and the entire time I was there, was the only person in that room. I was definately not comfortable nor did I feel welcome. My only and my last visit there!
My husband and I and several friends went here on Sunday (Valentines night). One of our friends ordered the 1/2 smoked Chicken. She asked for white sauce and our server did not know what that was. Our server asked if that was the "up town name for Ranch". I couldn't believe it!!! On top of that, it took an hour to get our food (and there were very VERY few people in the restaurant when we went at 5:30). Those of us that got steaks all ordered Medium and one ordered Medium-well and they were all way WAY overdone, even charred a little on the outside. They forgot our bread with our dinners and had to bring that separately and also our server kept making excuses the about 3 times we saw her on why she kept forgetting things, forgetting our drinks, forgetting the bread etc. I used to love Chapparals but I dont know what has happened to their service and food lately. I won't be going back.
The owner has gotten too big for his britches. (If you know him, no pun intended.) Not only does he have Chapparrel, but Sarge's Shack on I65 near Pulaski, and Huddle House in Savannah, TN, and plans to build more. Chapparrel used to be great, but it's turned into just another frozen steak-house. Their rice is the best thing on the menu.
The rice was still good, but that was about it. My baked potato was still crunchy! The salad and bread were good and I'm sure the steaks would have been good if they weren't burnt to a crisp!!! My friend got the quesadilla's and they used to be delicious, Taco Bell's would have been better than what she got! Just not impressed anymore.
