Cheney admits spying on Americans

Vice-President Dick Cheney has admitted that the US military and CIA have been spying on the financial dealings of Americans -- intelligence gathering normally authorized only by civilian policing agencies.

Thank you for your input and I do agree with you! I do have a question about this, Why does it not seem to bother anyone as far as the spying?
Well, no offense intended, but if they want go to that much trouble to find out about the $1.32 I got in the bank, they're welcome.

Your banking records are held by commercial institutions that are regulated by the US Government. You have to file a income tax return with the US Government every year. The money you carry in your pocket is printed by the US Government. The credit cards you use are regulated by the US Government. The interest rate you pay on your mortgage is regulated by the US Government. They already know what you have, and where you got it, and how you spent it. It's just a matter of how they look it up.

If it's for a criminal case...they get subpoenas and proper papers. If it's national security, you're lucky to see daylight ever again. So, no, as long as I'm not a terrorist, I'm not concerned about them checking financial records.

Very good points...I'm not that bothered by the spying myself.
