What are they going to do about the "lustful" thoughts a lad may have for another lad?

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A Christian academy in Georgia put a significant dent in a 12-year-old girl's dream of one day earning a college football scholarship when the school's CEO allegedly cited the Bible and middle school boys' lustful thoughts as reasons for removing her from the team.

Locus Grove (Ga.) Strong Rock Christian School CEO Patrick Stuart told Maddy Blythe, 12, "that men and women are created equal but different, and he said that he prayed about it and it was the wrong thing to do," Maddy told WSB-TV. "I think it's kind of crazy and I think it's very archaic and he needs to get with the times."

While Blythe still appears in a team photo on the school's website, the coach reluctantly informed the Blythes that their daughter "would no longer be able to play" despite his best efforts to convince the CEO otherwise, CBS Atlanta reported.

"It's like taking my dream and throwing it in the trash," Maddy told 11Alive News.

Still, Strong Rock Christian athletic director Phil Roberts submitted this e-mail statement to the local NBC affiliate: "Our official policy is that middle school girls play girl sports and middle school boys play boy sports."

Maddy's mother Cassy Blythe, who served as a police officer before turning her attention to raising six children, estimated her daughter registered a handful of sacks while receiving constant praise for her play as a defensive tackle for the Patriots last season.

"My girl can handle herself. I've seen girls in the military," Cassy Blythe told CBS Atlanta. "I've seen fellow female police officers who went out there and they busted tail and they were just a as good and if not better in some aspects."

More specifically, here is what Cassy Blythe said was addressed by the school in a letter to the Atlanta Journal Constitution:

Her school called me in for a meeting to discuss her future. I was told by the CEO that he did not believe girls should play on boys teams. He was worried 1) the boys might have impure thoughts, 2) the locker room talk might be a bit much for her to handle, 3) boys and girls should not compete in any sport, 4) there are other sports she can play, 5) they are a private school and can make any decision they want, and 6) he prayed about it and this was the right thing to do. He also quoted the Bible by saying that men and women are created equal but different and therefore should not be allowed to play the same sports.

Meanwhile, the Blythe family has established a "Let her play" Facebook page that has already received support in the form of 10,000 likes (h/t Huffington Post).

“I am still in shock," Cassy told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "I don’t know where it came from. All we had received from the coaches was encouragement. ‘Maddy’s wonderful. We want her to keep playing. She has found her niche.’’

Yep, dangerous because a 12 year old girl can usually snap a 12 year old boy like a twig.

I guess the school doesn't mind all those guys patting each others butts.

It would take a considerable amount of "full padding" to conceal certain of the very obvious, exceptionally well-developed attributes of this 12-year old girl/woman person!

Maybe she could also go out for the school's wrestling team as some girls have elsewhere.  Some of the boys at her school would have an excuse to grope where they had not dared to grope before.

This denial of obvious differences between persons of opposite human gender is getting absurd!

As to Mama's defeated hopes that her widdle gull could nail down a college football scholarship--fahgettaboutit.  The kid's  only chance at that would be as a place kicker and more power to her if she can master that skill.  But as a tackle, no way Jose'!  That ain't even remotely probable. The family needs to just get over it.

LOL! Oh yes, leave all that groping and fondling to the boys on other boys. Gee, ever stop to think that they know they wouldn't be free to grope her? Ever think she might just slap the helmet off their heads IF they did? Or are you of the mind that a girl is "fair game" to be groped and has to stand and take it? And too, ever think they might be good kids and wouldn't grope her because it's not a nice thing to do? Sheesh. Who are you to judge what the girl's chances are at a football scholarship? Did you have daughters? Did you tell them they couldn't do anything in life except be a subservient wife and a mother?

She was already on the team. What happened to make him all of a sudden get worried about lust? This is the mentality of some people that are teaching children, and want this kind of thinking in public schools. What's next on his list, a new "dress code" for girls? They could make them wear dark glasses so their eyes don't show.

Probably for all kinds of different reasons. My first guess is that the biggest reason is lack of interest in playing. It's certainly not because there are no women who are physically capable. Second guess, women have been "shut out" of playing, just like they're trying to do to this girl. Another guess, afraid of being labeled/called "mannish" or trying to act like a man. Again, a lot of reasons.

Jobe, have you ever seen this woman?

Yes, I have daughters. They are grown now but when in school, both of them were talented athletes.  And neither  wanted to play football or rassle.  They chose from the numerous other available sports programs.  I never told them what they could or could not do with their lives.  Each made her own decision and both are skilled professionals and very independent.  As to my "judging" whether this young lady is likely to nail down a college football scholarship--well, Worstthinking, I mostly based that on my understanding of just how many women are currently on college football teams, a pretty reasonable criterion, wouldn't you think (assuming you would in fact THINK about it before grinding out more of your iabrasivel drivel)?

No beter-n-nun I wouldn't say your conclusion is right. As I posted before you posted your drivel, there are many reasons women aren't on the teams. One more reason is your mindset, some men and even women think such sports is not a "woman's place", and they've been excluded, just as they're doing to this girl. Your daughters were talented atheletes? Oh, you mean just doing "girly sports"?

No--I mean basketball and track and field/cross country.  I don't know of any "girly sports".  You will have to explain what you mean by that. Almost all the high school sports played in this area have both boys and girls teams.  By the way, ever heard of Title IX?
