I believe NASA prefers the NOAA data from weather stations where the siting and maintenance issues generate higher temperatures. Even the GAO said the data from 42% of those stations is spurious:  http://www.gao.gov/new.items/d11800.pdf

I guess that means the true believers need to add a few more degrees to the numbers to counter the pavement, air conditioner units, and barbecue grills near the weather stations.

Plus, NASA was caught "normalizing" temperatures by taking  readings in cities (notorious heat sinks) and applying the reading to entire areas -- grass fields, which would be much cooler.

Woz is the low info poster child of this millennium. I can only hope the critters he must have sired look to him as the example of what not to be.
