I agree with your assessment of this commentary, but I don't believe you are an Auburn fan.

Believe it or not, but there are some Auburn fans out there that aren't as arrogant as others.
People in Pasadena will note a rise in the numbers of 'pleases' and 'thank yous' they hear during the week leading up to the game. They will probably notice that Southerners are good tippers. We are raised to be nice.

The guy who wrote this article has a problem. Everything he said about Alabamians, whether true, partially true or totally false, splashes back on Texans.

He didn't accuse us of marrying our siblings, though. That's refreshing, but it makes me wonder if maybe he didn't want to bring up that topic because it hits him a little too close to home?
I thought about responding to his letter, but that would be the reaction he wants.

If we all e-mail the author and his supervisors, that simply proves that his article is being read. That's the point, simply for you to read it.

The best reaction is to ignore it. The fewer responses he gets the better.

Since he's a Texas fan, he's going to have a bad night tonight. He can bad mouth the state all he wants, that's not going to change the final score.
