Tea Party Coloring Book Publisher Says He's Getting Death Threats

The author-publisher of "The Tea Party Coloring Book for Kids" says he has received death threats over its publication.

Wayne Bell, publisher of St. Louis-based Really Big Coloring Books, said in an interview with CBS that his $3.59 coloring book is not political. But some critics think the book was designed for politically conservative adults, and not for children.

"We're not really making a political statement," Bell told CBS, adding that his company also publishes coloring books on the Rockettes, Cirque du Soleil and President Obama.

Bell told Fox News on Thursday that his office began receiving "odd" phone calls and emails five days after the release of the coloring book. He did not indicate whether he reported those incidents.

"We've locked our front door and put a sign on the door that says, 'please knock,'" Bell said.

How crazy are libs? And before any of you yell, "It's not right!", see the web site below which is pushing politics.

Ya know, there are a lot of crazy people on BOTH sides. (If you don't believe that, just go read some of the posts on the religion forum.) I don't think ALL right-wingers are nuts just because some of them have threatened to shoot our president. So why should you think all left-wingers are nuts just because some unbalanced person is stalking this guy?

"Secret Service: Threat level against Obama no greater than under Bush, Clinton

Bit of a bombshell at this morning's Homeland Security Committee hearing:

U.S. Secret Service Director Mark Sullivan dismissed published reports that the level of death threats against President Obama are four times greater than typical threat levels against recent presidents — claiming the current volume of threats is comparable to that under George W. Bush and Bill Clinton.

"It's not [a] 400 percent [increase]," Sullivan said during a heated exchange with Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-D.C.), who suggested the service needed additional agents to protect the first African-American president.

"I'm not sure where that number comes from," he said, adding that the number of threats against Obama "are the same level as it has been [against] the last two presidents."

After the Beck demonstration on the mall, a crowd of about 300,000 went home and took their garbage with them. At the 9/12 demonstration, a tea party crowd of 1.1 million marched with no violence. Most of the left wing demonstrations I've seen end in violence and advocate violence.

Oh please! Neither side has a corner on violence. After all, it is the right wingers who go around shooting abortion doctors. That's just one example.

Left wingers ADMIT there are crazies on both sides. Right wingers like you seem to want to blame ALL violence on the "other side". That shows either closed-mindedness, or a lack of belief in reality.
Well Scott Roeder who killed Dr. Tiller in Kansas was a known right-winger.

In Pittsburgh, Richard Poplanski killed some cops because he believed Obama was going to ban guns.

Von Brunn, who opened fire at the US Holicost Museum recently was an extreme right winger.

James David Adkinsson who opened fire recently at the Tennesee Valley Universalist Unitarian Church was discovered to have a book called "Liberalism is a Mental Health Disorder", plus a copy of Hannity's "Let Freedom Ring", and "The O'reilly Factor". He railed against liberals!

Do you REALLY believe conservatives have never resorted to violence? You have a computer right there in front of you. Look it up! And PLEASE, be realistic!
Left wing wacko here:
Yesterday, a surprisingly run-of-mill, left-wing enviro-wacko named James Lee took people hostage at the Discovery Channel headquarters.

Just wacko here:
Von Brunn boasted of having spent a year in jail for fighting a sheriff's deputy in Maryland in 1968 and, a quarter-century later, of serving prison time for trying to kidnap members of the Federal Reserve board. After he got out of prison, he became a regular in white-supremacist circles and soon had his own file with watch groups such as the Southern Poverty Law Center and the Anti-Defamation League. He wrote an anti-Semitic text and maintained his conspiracy theories on the Web site. The St. Louis native worked in advertising in New York City and moved in the late 1960s to Maryland's Eastern Shore, where he stayed in advertising and tried to make a mark as an artist.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — An out-of-work truck driver accused of opening fire at a Unitarian church, killing two people, left behind a note suggesting that he targeted the congregation out of hatred for its liberal policies, including its acceptance of gays, authorities said Monday.

A four-page letter found in Jim D. Adkisson's small SUV indicated he intentionally targeted the Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church because, the police chief said, "he hated the liberal movement" and was upset with "liberals in general as well as gays."

He was a warped Christian bashing gays and his exwife's church.

Richard Poplawsk
Background

Richard Andrew Poplawski (born September 12, 1986) [1] is a 23-year-old Pittsburgh resident who lived with his mother and grandmother in the Stanton Heights neighborhood. Poplawski had previously enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, but he was discharged from boot camp after throwing a food tray at a drill instructor.[3]

According to friends and former acquaintances, Poplawski first married when he was 17. His first wife was a young woman whom he had encountered whilst detained in a juvenile correctional center. The marriage lasted for almost two years. His first divorce troubled him emotionally until he found a new girlfriend. This new relationship was also very unsteady and on September 14, 2005, Poplawski allegedly assaulted his then-girlfriend outside his home. A month later, Poplawski allegedly violated an order of protection by showing up at the woman's place of work. Poplawski had recently lost his job at a glass factory, and was reportedly quite upset over the job loss.[6] Neighbors also reported that Poplawski was involved in several arguments with neighbors, including a couple of fistfights, and one incident in which he insulted a black Stanton Heights resident by shouting a racial slur in his face.[3][7]

Poplawski moved to Florida in 2006, and rented a room in a woman's house. However, she later evicted him after her German Shepherd disappeared while under Poplawski's care. He later moved in with the woman's neighbor, who said that he spoke lovingly about his grandmother but seemed disappointed in his mother.[8].

After he returned home, he adopted two pit bull mixes from a local animal shelter, one of which would later urinate on his mother's carpet, triggering the April 4 shootings.[7]

Just a nut.

Politics really have nothing to do with any of these cases. There are just NUTS, the media spins it ever how the wind blows.
No, I am saying that the media spins the incidents. Of course there are people who go overboard on the left and the right.

But having some nut kill a person and then they find a best selling book in his house by a conservative or a liberal does not mean that influenced them.

I have books by Stephen King. Am I going to hack someone's body up because of it?

How about one by Colin Powel? Am I joining the army?

Martha Stewart? Baking a cake or insider trading. Ha, a twofer!

The mosque is just a bad idea since we don't have any thing built back at ground zero. It just hurts the families. I guess it's more a question of 'yes they can', but should they?
It's a pretty sure bet though, that if someone has three extremely conservative books in his house, that HE is extremely conservative. If you came to my house and saw "The Audacity of Hope" prominently displayed on my bookshelf, it wouldn't take long to figure out that I'm a liberal.

the police chief said, "he hated the liberal movement" and was upset with "liberals in general as well as gays."

Adkinsson hated the liberal movement. As far as I know, the only one who talks about liberal theology is Bill Gray, and we all know that he is as conservative POLITICALLY as a person can get. The only reason he rails against "liberal theology" is that it, whatever it is, goes against his politics.
Elinterventor, you never responded. I'm just wondering how you view Glenn Beck's "joke" about poisoning Nancy Pelosi. Or his "joke" about choking Michael Moore to death. Or his "joke" about beating Rangel to death with a shovel.

With so many people hanging on Beck's every word, are you saying none of them are unbalanced enough to take his "jokes" seriously?

Are you saying that this man who preached to his followers that they should leave their signs at home (whatever happened to freedom of speech?) and that they shouldn't resort to violence isn't INSANE to make jokes about killing people?

Also, are you saying that if a liberal made those kind of "jokes", that too, would be OK in your book?

Glenn asked them to leave their signs at home because it was not a POLITICAL rally.

Geeesh, you yell if they have signs, you yell if they don't.

What were the signs at the dem rally on Oct 2?
B, you could send someone to a Tea Party event and have them take shots of racist signs (as a matter of fact, that has been done) to try to show that that is ALL the Tea Party is about. Intelligent people know better though.

I am sure there ARE a lot of racists in the Tea Party, but I know that that is not ALL there is. And as an intelligent person, I'm sure that YOU know that this video was made just to try to make liberals look bad.

My post was directed at Elinterventor because HE seems to think that only liberals are capable of violence. You and I both know that there are crazy people on both sides of ANY issue. Crazy conservatives, crazy liberals, crazy catholics, crazy baptists, (crazy Wiccans Big Grin), crazy teachers, crazy students, crazy people in ALL walks of life.
Just as there are many racists backing the Tea Party. That's the thing about our freedoms here in America. If you hold a public rally of any sort, you can't indiscriminately keep people out.

And if you want to talk about who is backing whom, there are a lot of big business types backing some of the various Tea Party factions. Do you think they are doing that out of the goodness of their hearts?
"some of those signs have been proven faked."

And you don't think conservatives have ever "faked" a sign at a liberal rally?

As far as the video you just posted, freedom of speech is still allowed in this country. These people were a small minority at this rally, but conservatives would like you to believe that EVERYONE who attended were like that.

And after all, they WERE saying Obama AIN'T no socialist. Smiler
I'm afraid political intercourse has reached the point where excess is the norm.

Witness the repeated references to George W. Hitler. Liberals laughed when Hugo Chavez said he smelled hellish sulfur at the UN dais where W had recently stood.

yeah, some of those signs were obviously photoshopped.

Twas always thus, however. We can only remind each other of Godwin's Law.
