Great Photos - it really does make a person think. I love America, and I am very blessed for having been born here.
I'd like to read up on the laws governing those who wish to enter this country. It is definitely possible to come in, but is the process obviously breaking down?
Are those who follow protocol still allowed in?
Wouldn't ANY country have a problem with people entering without following that country's laws for entering?

It is certainly a debate, and it's something for which there is no easy answer or solution.

Thanks for posting your photos.
I live in Russellville ! I see every day the problems with illegals, They don't have licences,no insurance and a lot have mississippi tags. Maybe they should annex Russellvilee to be part of Mississippi. The cops win't do anything. The sherriff dept wom't do anything. And the politicians sure won't. Read up on what ever you want. They're breaking the law by being here. Call & write every politician. Call the cops anytime you see them do something wrong & baybe they'll get the message, Thank Bob Riley for doing nothing too.

Sorry to hijack the thread, but how did you get the dog picture on your signature?

Anyway, those rallies proved to me two things. One, illegals don't want to become part of us or our culture. They're just here for the money and benefits. Two, our government simply doesn't care about this issue. It's a sad day when you have criminals openly marching in the streets bragging about what they've done. Immigrants come here legally, aliens invade us without permission. If you're undocumented, you're an alien.

There's no denying that our government's ignorance of law and resulting associated problems create even more problems.

However, there's just one very obvious burning question that arises from your post:

How do you know that every person you mentioned seeing was an illegal alien?
Brent, they appear to be waving the flag. Am I missing it? Which one shows them desecrating the flag?

Just trying to understand here; so don't freak out on me. But, is it not possible they spoke in Spanish so that everyone there could understand?

It appears to be a peaceful protest, but I wasn't there. Did they turn violent? I don't recall anything in the news about it.

I agree that the Che Guevarra shirt is disturbing. I also agree that strong measures must be enforced to stop illegal entry into our country. But (unless you tell me otherwise) if these people were exercising the rights we ourselves believe in by having a peaceful protest and if there is no proof they were illegals, they were within their rights.
It appears that the exceeding vast majority of flags were American flags.

And, interestingly enough, none of them appeared to be desecrated, nor in the act of desecration! That's quite contrary to the remark "see what these people are doing, desecrating our flag (see pics)".

I just wonder if those folks had been Russian, Venezuelan or Chinese and spoke their native tongue if we would be reading the same type remarks.

Just because folks speak Spanish doesn't make them a criminal. Neither does any fact that they may have been of Hispanic origin make them criminal.

Our childhood next-door neighbors were Hispanic. In fact, they were from Cuba. They left before Castro took over. He was an architect, and she a professor. They now live in Miami. And, a well-respected former professor of mine is of Hispanic origin. Her parents also emigrated from Cuba, similarly to our childhood neighbors. And, she speaks excellent Spanish, and was teaching her little daughter! It's her heritage, just like cornbread and collard greens with sweet iced tea is our Southern heritage. Oh, by the way... her husband is Anglo.

However, since you wrote that the assembled were "speaking Habla Espanol during speeches, fliers en Espanol," and that there was "Socialist left-wing rhetoric," what would be interesting to know is how fluent you are in Spanish. Your remarks intimate you clearly understood them.

And since you intimated you were also afraid, vis a vis your comment that "With my family with me, and outnumbered 200,000 to 1, I DON'T think I was about to ask these folks what or where they were from," the only thing we know is that you were there and heard some language that you apparently didn't understand, and are now extrapolating without actually knowing the facts.

Regarding voter registration, can't Hispanics vote? Are Hispanics now the 21st century's equivalent of the 19th century Negro? Are Hispanics a second-class person, with little or no constitutional rights... two-thirds of a person, neither entitled to marry, own property and neither entitled to vote if they are citizens?

Alabama law states that in order for someone to be eligible to register to vote they must meet the following qualifications:

* Be a United States Citizen
* Reside in Alabama
* Be at least 18 years old
* Have not been convicted of a felony (or have rights restored)
* Have not been legally declared "mentally incompetent" by a court

And the Code of Alabama, 1975 annotated reads in part about the qualifications of voters that: Section 17-4-122
Examination and oath of applicants to register; applications not public records; political parties may obtain voter registration information.

The board of registrars shall have power to examine, under oath or affirmation, all applicants for registration, and to take testimony touching the qualifications of such applicants, but no applicant shall be required to answer any question, written or oral, not related to his qualifications to register.

Armchair quarterbacking?

Nope, none at all.

Plain observation... at least as good as (if not better than) yours.

Now before anyone gets any mistaken idea, my original question was " How do you know that every person you mentioned seeing was an illegal alien?"

Good lord, that's just wonderful. That's all we need...votes counted by people who are not even citizens of our country. Still, that's quite a risk at getting caught and deported, don't you think?
You can't blame these people for wanting to better their lives and the lives of their families. The real problem is our government and their failure to make laws and then enforce them. If the government would go after the companies that hire illegals and people that rent to them, and if our government would stop all federal aid to them-such as free medical care and foodstamps-they wouldn't have a reason to come here. The solution is to change our laws and then strictly enforce them. If their lives weren't any better here, they wouldn't come here.
The messager and the message are two of the same because the people want the United States to know they love their country just as much as they love our country. Sometimes when you have been treated unjust and your family hunger you find work that other won't do, you humble yourself and except little pay and a bunch of disrepect just to feed your family. Let them have their piece of where they're from give all people their respect. Hey it wasn't that many years ago when all our ancestors were also Alien, race is not a factor, it's our upbring to create crazy hoops for people to go through.
