In my opinion, one of the most refreshing political events in recent memory was the question and answer period between President Obama and House Republicans at their retreat in Baltimore a few weeks ago. In an era where what passes for debate is increasingly just politicians and pundits shouting talking points past each other on cable news shows, we actually had a moment of civil and substantial debate from our politicians.
Personally, I would love to see an event like this become a tradition, where the President meets the opposition party face to face and has to clarify his positions and defend his agenda in an unscripted environment.
