PERSEVERANCE LEADS THE DHS 2012-2013 JV CHEERLEADERS
DOWN THE ROAD TO NATIONALS...…

History has been made at Deshler High School thanks to the determination, dedication and strong willed members of the 2012-2013 JV cheerleading squad and their coach, Mrs. Kimberly Bailey. This squad first came together in March of this year after what has been reported to be one of the most competitive try-outs remembered. The squad, which consists of 13 girls and 1 male (Ashlyn Killen, Captain, Erica Malone and Emily Mothershed, Co- Captains, Kaitlyn Congleton, Lauren Goins, Kadacia Johnson, Lindsay Blackburn, Ryan Claunch, Abby Nichols, Sydney Malone, Summer White, Ryan Leigh Gardiner, Bekah Spurgeon and Lauren Sims) has done a remarkable job representing Deshler High School this season in all that they have participated in. The squad traveled with Coach Kim Bailey to The University of Alabama at the end of May for cheer camp and brought home a 1st place trophy for their “Home Pom” routine, a 1st place trophy in a “Cheer” competition, and a 2nd place trophy for the “Extreme Routine” competition. The squad also brought home a 1st Place trophy at the North Alabama State Fair this year. Most recently the squad has accomplished a goal that was set at the very beginning of their season together: they participated in a UCA competition on 12-9-12 in Birmingham, AL & became the 2012 Southern Regional Championship Division Winner in the JV Coed Division. They also earned a qualifying score which allowed the squad to receive a bid to the National High School Cheerleading Competition to be held in Orlando, FL in Feb. 2013. No other squad in the history of DHS has accomplished this task. The squad has not walked an easy road to get to this point though; there have been injuries and illnesses which have made it hard for the squad to practice and even compete. The dedication and determination of this squad motivates each other, parents, fans, and their coach in a way that is not always recognized when speaking of teenagers. The commitment to themselves, their belief and faith in God, and their ability to preserver even under the hardest circumstances is what makes this squad capable of accomplishing all of the goals that they have set for themselves. Please help us send the members of this squad to the NATIONALS! It’s great to be a DESHLER TIGER!!!!
