The US should take a note from both Reagan and Putin.  Putin’s PhD thesis stated how Russia’s natural resources could help bring her economic advantages and a better life for her people.

Reagan realized the Soviet Union was near a tipping point – their GDP was a quarter that of the US and they spent half on armaments.  Reagan pushed and shoved their economy over the brink.

The US should increase her own natural resource production – more oil and natural gas. More fracking and the Keystone XL pipeline.  Ship LNG to Europe to counter the Russian market.  Help the Europeans from Spain to Poland develop their own resources, UK as well.  Russia exports coal.  Help the coal industry with exports.

Gold is another big Russian export.  Approve the development of the Pebble gold mine in Alaska.  An additional 100 million ounce gold supply will depress that market.

Revive the anti-missile program to counter Iranian missiles.  US military working closely with Czech and Polish military will unnerve Putin, at least.

I’m not advocating ignoring environmental sa***uards.  Besides, the tax revenue from all those sales would  be welcome.

Beating the war drum again, huh?

We are not the worlds police.

If you guys want to fight so bad then buy a ticket to Ukraine and join the people in THEIR fight.

At least dire was honest about why he thinks we should join in the fray. Money to made on the war machine has always been a driving factor for the right wingers. Don't give a thought to the human cost when a dollar can be made of military contracts.

Where in his post did Dire advocate military action or "joining in the fray'?

And, here is Jank, corrupting what one said to divert from Obama being handed his rear end on a plate by Putin.  Most of my strategy is economic -- no armaments, no military deployment.  The only military action I suggested was deployment of the anti-missile batteries in central Europe.  The small number of missiles would not endanger Russia's strategic batteries, couldn't even hit those fired from European Russia.  The batteries are for Iran, as I stated.  The economic strategies I suggested would also hurt Iran, as well.  Jank, why do you wish Putin and the ayatollah well?

Meanwhile, Obama and Kerry should call Romney and Palin to apologize for their derision of Romney for point out Russia is a geopolitical opponent and Palin for stating ""After the Russian army invaded the nation of Georgia, Senator Obama's reaction was one of indecision and moral equivalence, the kind of response that would only encourage Russia's Putin to invade Ukraine next."

You avoid war by being strong.  You invite war and murder of civilians by being a feckless, douche bag liberal.

Since President Obama and the rest of the DNC are counting on Hillary Clinton to save them why hasn't he asked her to go over there and fix things. She was so accomplished and such as Secretary of State. I mean Korea bowed down to her wishes, and Syria all were her successes. And why have the news networks not called upon her to provide her thoughts on the matter?

Yeah, that's not stirring the pot at all. We are seeing results from our nuclear talks with Iran. Why in the world would we start threatening the Iranians while they are actually reducing their %5 as they agreed?

Wait and see...IF the Obama administration and his military advisors decides that we should take military action and support the Ukrainians, the right will throw a fit then too. Congress Tea Partiers, will make any action he wants to take impossible by holding it up and obstructing as usual.

Remember Syria? At first they were mad because he was threatening military action, then they were mad when diplomatic talks got the job done instead. There is no pleasing them.

It does not matter what this president does. I saw where they are now flipping out about him not wearing a suit in the oval office while talking to Putin on the phone! I think I will name this new outrage "Fashiongate"

I sincerely hope we do not send our military into this mess.

Russia is Iran's major weapons supplier, including missiles capable of carrying nukes.  As to Iran's reduction of enriched uranium, we're left to believe them, while in several uninspected facilities, the centrifuges still keep spinning and being built.  Near Arak, Iran's heavy water production plant and reactor which remains under construction.

Now, tell me who's stirring the pot?

Jank wishes to delay any action, until global nuclear war is the only option -- I thought Chamberlain was living in a bubble.

I wish to use economic strengths against Putin to destabilize his regime, with only a minor military deployment of probably 100 military, a few dozen techies, plus a few dozen missiles and I'm the warmonger.

Anyone reading Putin's thesis for his economics Phd would realize the invasion, among others, would be the ultimate strategy..  Yes, I know he probably had a ghost writer. A street thug, like Schikergruber probably had help when he wrote My Struggle.  But, in both cases, they gave us plenty of warning of their intentions.

And, many to go.  Even a Democrat like Truman would be welcome at this time.

Calm down dire. I know how intoxicating his masculinity can be to some, but try and get past all the muscles and hairy chest for a minute, ok. With the obvious infatuation you have with Putin, I don't think you would be safe in Moscow. The Cossacks would probably whip you in the streets and throw you in the Black Dolphin. As you said...Putin don't really like man on man love.

I prefer my leader to be a bit more brainy. I don't put much stock in bear wrestling and bare chest.

As for the mom jeans....Just add it to the other fashion faux pas the President is guilty of. One more piece of evidence against him in Fashiongate I a guess.

The IAEA report to member states said: "The Agency confirms that, as of 20 January 2014, Iran ... has ceased enriching uranium above 5 percent U-235 at the two cascades at the Pilot Fuel Enrichment Plant (PFEP) and four cascades at the Fordow Fuel Enrichment Plant (FFEP) previously used for this purpose."

It was referring to Iran's two enrichment plants, at Natanz and Fordow. Cascades are interlinked networks of centrifuge machines that enrich uranium. Iranian state television earlier said Iran had suspended 20 percent enrichment at Natanz and that inspectors were heading to Fordow.

"The suspension of 20 percent enrichment has started at the Natanz plant and the International Atomic Energy Agencyinspectors are going to the Fordow plant," state TV quoted the deputy head of Iran's Atomic Energy Organiation, Behrouz Kamalvandi, as saying.

Iran has been enriching uranium to 20 percent concentration of the fissile U-235 isotope since early 2010, stoking Western alarm over the nature of its nuclear program.

While that activity has now stopped, it will continue to produce lower-level uranium with an enrichment level of up to 5 percent under the nuclear agreement with the six world powers - the United States, France, Britain, Germany, China and Russia.

The IAEA report also listed other measures Iran had agreed to take under the six-month accord. Those included an undertaking that it would not build any more enrichment sites during the next half year, when Iran and the powers will seek to negotiate a final settlement of Tehran's decade-old nuclear stand-off with the powers.

Once more, we have an example of how the left will twist one's words to defame one and attempt deflection.  I included one throwaway phrase on Putin's bare chest and Jank accuses me of being gay.  If, one had read the comments when that photo first appeared, one would know that both men and women swooned over it.  Considering Putin's anti-gay stance, I considered that rather strange.

Interesting that Jank, a supposed liberal thinker, would attempt to defame one by implying they are gay..

Jank knows that Obama is weak and the world knows it -- anything to deflect from the Obamessiah.  The only thing I might be interested in Russia is the numerous gorgeous women she is famous for. Funny how they emerged after the Soviet Union disappeared.

I personally think you have every right to be attracted to him. I can't get past his abuse of power and his heavy handed ways with the citizens of Russia. But, to each his own....

What Jank & Crash are ignoring is that Palin was right about this issue in 2008 and Romney was right about it in 2012! There is no such thing as "smooking waaaay too much ganga" , just to advise you.

what 'impracticalthinker' fails to recognize... is palin and romney blamed 'russia's invasion of the ukraine' on 'obama's reaction to the georgia invasion'. unless you provide proof.. the claim can NOT be proven to be true. i'd say it was hard for the US to complain about 'invading a country on trumped up charges'.. because a PAST PRESIDENT DID THE SAME THING, IN THE LAST 10 YEARS.  ya know.. 'accusing someone of being  horrible, because they did the same thing you did' never works out to well for anyone. i'll give palin and romney half credit.. they at LEAST got the country right. most regressives can't do that.
