Last night Venton Blandin was doing a live report from the neighborhood that had the tornado damage. Just as the went to him, there had been a big gust of wind. A truck bed liner was in the street and some limbs were on the ground. Venton was so upset and excited and was saying he heard a freight train. They cut away and the weather guy said that there was some wind and sometimes the wind makes noise as it blows through trees. Greg Screws looked amused, but did a good job of composing himself. Later when they went back to Venton, he interviewed someone in the neighborhood and asked the man if these winds were sort of an 'aftershock' of the tornado that hit a few days earlier.

Did anyone else see this? I wish I had recorded it.

Venton is from Chicago and is used to wind, but not tornados.

Nope, just someone who has never experienced a tornado.

Speaking of WHNT, I think the best weather scene I recall was when Dan Saterfield was a meteorologist for WBRC back back in the early 90s Basically they had him out in the field covering a tornado warning and golf ball sized hail stones started falling during the shot. Both ended up ditching the shot and running for cover. Obviously they both was fine but that was the best live shot ever!
