Those bench warmers that occupy most churches every time the doors are open? The first in line when a meal is had at church? Those wanna-be preachers that think they know it all & have it down exactly as if God himself whispered in his ear? And of course, those that God told to write so people would know which way was correct? But we can’t not give the Devil his due. He gave those people their egotistical attitude, that know it all personality that causes people to turn the other way when they see him/her coming. He made those people think that they’re fooling others, that we don’t see the real person, the hypocrite that hides underneath all that grand standing. And it’s my guess it was the Devil that gave them the message of OSAS. Hey, folks, get saved, then you got it made. No more worries!

Do you know people like that? Do you recognize those folks in your church?

I know another species of churchgoer that you seemingly don't want to acknowledge--the genuinely loving and caring churchgoer who goes out of his/her way year in and year out to perform all kinds of kindnesses for those in want, for those who have lost loved ones, for those who are sick and need someone to sit with them, for those who have lost a loved one and who need support and comforting in their time of grief.  I know many such churchgoers.

Certainly there will be hypocrites in some churches, but that does not mean that God approves of their attitudes and actions.  Churches, like any earthly institution, are imperfect, and hypocrites and other objectionable--people can be found in churches as in other organizations in this society in which we live.  God has plans for dealing with hypocrites, as set forth in Matthew 13:24-30,   Matthew 7: 19-23, and Matthew 25:31-46. Notice that in the latter passage, He promises eternal life and blessing to the "good and faithful servants" in His kingdom.

Of course I know those other "species" but those are not the ones my topic is about. Very few of those you mentioned are found in church anymore but I am well aware that there are some. That's the reason the Bible says there will be more in Hell than in Heaven. The majority of those that attend church will be in Hell some day.

BTW, such a rude way to refer to the genuinely loving & caring churchgoer. I prefer to call them People.

I know what species means. I guess when you greet that "genuinely loving & caring churchgoer" when you see them at church, you refer to them as species instead of using their name?

I don't have to look for something wrong with what you post. It's there for everyone to see every

time you post.

Unprovable??? Take a poll, ask anyone on here about the way you talk to us, if there's anything wrong with the way you post. I can't count the times that people have mentioned the way you talk down to us, how you think you're the big man on campus.

If it makes you feel like a big man to call me names, have at it. Doesn't bother me, I just consider the source & feel sorry for you.

We hardly agree on anything but this post we agree on!

God is not going to judge the Church for the good things they do, but for their iniquity.

Mat 7:22  Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
Mat 7:23  And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity [GK. Lawlessness].

I mean it's fine and dandy they do the good things that they do, but doing good things will not bring forgiveness of sins. The Churches sins must be repented of and overcome. Those who repent and overcome are the one's who you said are the "good and faithful". I'm willing to bet that 99.9% of the Church does not fit in there.
