So Tammy Irons as helping pass a bill that will allow our local establishments to sell alcohol with no restrictions. Yee hah!

Can someone tell me how is it that a government can tell me it's okay to purchase alsohol 6 days a week but outlaw it during one 24 hour period? Does anyone else see the stupidity of that?

If the state of Alabama wants to outlaw alcohol, go ahead. I'll whine and moan and travel to Tennessee to buy my liquore but at least the laws won;'t be hyprcriticla. As it is now, Alabama tell me I can't buy a good bottle of wine to go with my gormet dinner on Sunday evening. THAT TICKS ME OFF!

If they are going to enforce Blue Laws, then why stop at alcohol? Let's enforce ALL the Blue laws! That includes prohibitions on pots, pans, and washing machines, pantyhose, cigarettes, no car sales and no prostitute's.

And what about draft beer? how the heck can the city tell that I must drink beer from a can or bottle instead of how it's SUPPOSED to be drunk: From a keg????

Can somebody help me out here?

Personally the part I will never understand is how its okay to drink on Sunday while you are out at the restraunt but its not okay to buy a bottle or six pack to take home. Alright, so maybe the kids can drive you home after the steak and ale. NOT!! and how many cabs do you see taking people to eat? Ever wonder why they take so long to get your food out? Cause they are hoping you'll order a few 50 cent beers at $3 each.
I don't know if the majority are money & church related. This is just a guess like your's, indopus, but I think it has more to do with fear of the unknown. You fear things that may or may not be unfounded, depending on your perspective. If you are raising kids in this area, you fear them being pulled into an unhealthy even dangerous lifestyle. Perhaps they'd like to outlaw it altogether, but since Sunday is all they've got to work with right now, they vote it out?

I had to come to some other conclusion because the Bible does not forbid consumption of alcohol; it says do not be drunk with wine. Drunk is the prolonged form of the verb, meaning (& help me out English majors if I'm off here) in the habit of getting drunk. I would think anyone who has read it understands this.

I'm not sure where or which translation it was in but something I remember reading was, "do not be too drunk to stand before the Lord". From that I got that drinking was ok maybe even to the point of being drunk.
