A South Carolina woman died at UAB Hospital today after she was struck by a rock that flew through her windshield when a pick-up truck hit a pothole.

According to Alabama State Troopers, here's what happened:

Jo Maureen Fisher, 33, of Goose Creek, S.C., was a passenger in a car driven by her husband -- John Fisher, 35, also of Goose Creek, S.C. -- on Interstate 20 east in Cleburne County about four miles west of the Alabama-Georgia line shortly after noon.

A pickup truck, driven by Crystal Dick, 23, of Heflin, was traveling in front of the Fishers when it hit a pothole causing a rock to crash through the Fishers' windshield and striking Jo Maureen Fisher in the head. John Fisher was not injured.

She was flown to UAB Hospital where she later died.
