Our legislative court jester, one Lowell Barron (D-Fyffe) gave us a remarkable reason for his supporting the bingo bill: Gov. Riley's raids have put individuals who were employed in the bingo parlors out of work. Using this same reason, we should not enforce laws against prostitution! Right? Well, after all, the doxies who are sex care providers must work too!
Now, I'm of two minds about whether to legalize bingo: I'm libertarian-inclined; but I'm totally put off by the Sweet Home Alabama people and the horses they rode in on. And I consider Roger Bedford, sponsors, to be two of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse of Alabama, and would be distrustful of anything from those worthies.
